The minute poem appeared to be a good vehicle for you to vent some of your spleen and also pay homage to the proud wage-earners. I like the minimalist approach and the title, picture and colors you chose to accompany your poem. Thanks for sharing your reflections.

I told you I was very upset. Today, when I turned on the news and heard how some of the "stimulus" money was going to be spent, my jaw dropped. Some of those appropriations need to be under a completely separate bill! Another license for the govt. to spend on needless things. Oh well, there I go again. Yeah, I wanted a minimalist format for this. Didn't want to go into a "dissertation". Everyone knows the situation. Just wanted to make a few remarks. Thought the "minute poem" would do well. Thanks very much for your review. Always appreciated, Joan....Sue

You got that right! Obama did trim a few inappropriate provisions, though.
Your poem was successful and not a rant. You should probably continue this theme in in this form in the future, since it is important to you.
Thanks for the follow-up.

I notice that some writers do have "themes" they stay on. And compile them. I'm so ignorant about writing, is that what you mean? I suppose if I got started, I may not be able to stop.
Witnessing the vote for the TARP in November made my head reel. We have gone into territory which is rife with land mines. And that was just the beginning. Our centralized government has gone so far beyond its mandate that it does not come close in resembling the reason for its existence.
Off soapbox once again :-))

Yes, I think it's useful to follow a thread to its conclusion or to the point where you have no more to say about the subject (at least for now). As in art, a series can be remarkable in its depth and variation. Have fun stretching yourself.

Beautifully crafted poem where the author takes us to ponder our own feelings of self worth. Outstanding, the clarity and vision within your expressionalism makes this a well crafted and inspiring piece.
Thanks for sharing.

Great poem about the foundation of our work force. You tell the story of blue collar workers with great mental imagery, great rhyme and beautiful flow and rhythm.
Thank you for sharing your vision of America's calloused working class.

Excellent minute poem form and excellent social criticism - yes, the CEO of a company gives himself bonuses and has corrupt dealings and then when it all falls apart he has his stash in some off-shore bank account while all the folks who worked for him lose their jobs and health care and pensions
excellent poem and excellent point

And senators getting kick-backs from Freddie and Fannie. I'm pissed to no end. And don't even get me started on these bailouts. I'm sick over the whole thing. Thanks so much for your review, Brooke. I was kind of worried that this poem would sound too fluffy for the serious subject matter. Anyway, at least I got it off my chest and wrote for those I do care about. Them and our country. Sue

What an excellent poem. The words flow well and tell a good story, and the picture was an exceptional choice for the subject matter.

This is a great little tribute to the Blue collar man and a strong political statement with your attached notes Sue, A lot of people will be able to appreciate your honest little offering friend. Well done! You might get some of the cuff reviews though, hopefully not!

I just wanted to make sure it wasn't too fluffy for a serious situation. That's what I want it to be reviewed on. I chose the Minute Poem because I wanted it to be brief, yet "said". Didn't want to go into some lengthy poem, being instructive, etc. Just a respectful honor to the working class who are struggling and will struggle even more in this year. Thanks much for your review, Hitch. Sue

These are the people who will keep our country alive. The ones that work with there hands and can build things. I had a boyfriend, 10 years in the Coast Guard and a degree in communications, but he loved to work with his hands and build things. joan marie

I'm 53 years old. Have lived through the '70's stagflation, the late '80's recession, the early '90's credit crunch and so much more. I'm terrified at what I'm witnessing now. And it takes a lot to make me be cynical or have fear. Hope upon hope that we can pull through this and not have the nation's landscape changed forever. I'm so sad today about it all. Thanks so much for your review, Joan Marie. And thanks for the little "cheer-up". :-) Sue

Well I am 53 too. So we lived through the same things just in different places. jm

I'm very confused. I'm looking at this and your review has come up as if you were Paige Won. Better send a note to Tom. Your identity has been hijacked! HA!
