Ohhhh, yes!! What a vivid reminder of the long-term effects of words on all of us - whether words to others or words spoken to ourselves, in our head. They all matter, big time!! This is going straight to the Winner's Circle, I predict!! xoxo

Thank you Rachelle for your enthusiastic support . I don't have the same confidence, but I hope so. Yes, the power of words to hurt, both to and from ourselves is enormous - and also to encourage and validate someone. Equally important! Thanks so much.

A very powerful use of 6 words and a great entry for the contest. People seem to have forgotten that message these days or they forgot that written words hurt just as much as spoken ones. Good luck in the contest.

I don't understand why you say you're not a poet when you do so well with these short poetry challenges. In just six words, you have stated facts that shape both nature and our futures.
I think this is an excellent entry for this contest, Wendy. Good luck!

Both can have their characters shaped by the prevailing wind, water and words, for better or worse, depending on the severity or gentleness of how either are exposed.

Hi WendyG
This looks like a good entry for the contest. Good luck with that!!
This is a pretty darn good pantry for this contest. I like the philosophy behind it. You should change it from general poetry to commentary and philosophy, poetry because that's what it is
Words can change lives. Look at Trump he stirs hatred. His followers even do murder like that guy in El Paso. One of his followers killed 43 people
Why did he kill 43 people? because Trump told him that they were vermin His follower dutifully killed them
Hate crimes have gone up almost 100% since he was president and they have NOT continued to go up under Biden
Words matter. You're exactly right.
I enjoyed reading your poem
Good job. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for your review, and for the suggestion. While it does have elements of philsophy, I feel it is much wider and more generally applicable, so I'll probably leave it as is. Thanks though for the favourable words.

This is a good contest entry (in my humble opinion).
I think maybe 'actions' might run a close second to 'words', though. But words do matter.
Good luck in the contest.

Thank you Wayne. Yes, you are right. I was thinking of theimpact words have on young children ( and older ones) as they are growing up. Some words are never forgotten. I appreciate your thoughtful review.

You say a lot in only six words! Indeed, Nature has a way of changing the Earth's shape. And great writers's words can shape a reader's life profoundly. I especially like your use of "shape" twice. Rod

Thank you Rod. I am pleased you liked this tiniest of "poems", and I appreciate your time and reviewing.

So very true, Wendy. I still remember some of the things I heard as a child, then a young adult. By the time I hit 40, I wondered why I cared what people thought. The ones saying the mean stuff weren't so great. I might not care, but I did once. Powerful poem. Gretchen

Thank you Gretchen. I am the same. It's hard to not care, especially as a child, and it can make or break a person. Thank you for this tthoughtful review.

Good morning...Well, I guess I should be saying Good evening! I get messed up all the time. But your poem is definitely spot on! There is power behind the strength of the waves as they hit our shores and though invisible to the eye, the power within words can change an entire lifetime.
Well said!
