I agree, Fan Storians are great support and writing and sharing is great therapy especially on the days when the rainbow isn't easy to see. I hope your lupus settles Debbie and keep up with the therapy. Cheers

Sorry to hear about your lupus, I have a friend who suffers too, congratulations on going opioid free, that takes strength. Your poem is beautiful, also shows your strength. Loved it.

Oh Debi. I'm sorry to hear about this. You are one courageous woman.
I'm so glad to read that Natural herbs and treatment has gotten you away from medication. I'm also happy to hear writing is a therapy that gives you comfort.
You know the FanStory family has your back so to speak and more importantly we have you in our thoughts and prayers.
In the words of John Fogerty from CCR... keep on chooglin!
Be well my dear...

Beautiful poem expressing the author's coping mechanism of focussing on the positive, rather than concentrating on the pain felt from an illness she has.
Each line has an end rhyme and the metaphors of the rainbow and the rain are beautiful and so clever.
The picture is also very beautiful.
Thank you so much for sharing this positive poem and I wish you very well in the contest.
Best wishes,
Donna

Oh my goodness, I am sorry to learn of this ailment.
I hope the natural route is kicking its butt. Prayers for you. I hate it when bad things happen to really good people.

Oh poor you but well done on dealing with it so courageously. This is an excellent rhyming four lines, really well constructed within the constraints given you. I hope you do well with it. X

I'm so sorry for your struggle Debbie. We have something in common. My brother is an alcoholic and drug addict. He recently shot himself up in the leg with a dirty needle, developed a bacterial infection and almost had to have his leg cut off. "I've seen the needle and the damage done." A line from a Neil Young song.
You poem is wonderful and an excellent use of the form with each line rhyming. The last line really stands out!
Best wishes and hang in there. Be strong

Ciao!
We have all had our dose of pain and we often tend to sulk and ask "WHY ME ? "
We are not great company because we project negative energy.
I love rainbows, I like to take pics of them and send them to others because rainbows are magical and have the power to turn a frown into a smile.
PS. Sorry, but after reading your wee poem, I wondered why you didn't put IF instead of BUT............. It just sounds grammatically better, at least to me.

Hi tempeste, I use the word ?but? instead of ?if? because it is never an issue of if. It is always there, but I use this, my writing, my friends and FS as therapy.
Was on opioids that doctors pushed for twenty years and even was on medical cannabis and many things throughout the last forty years. It's something I rarely write about but as it continues to get worse I felt the need.
Thanks for being part of that therapy, my dear friend

Sorry, I missed your notes. I went back after you replied and read them.
"Pain " refers to your health issues etc.
I thought you were referring to pain that upsets eg a friend who turns on you
Sorry, I see your point about not being able to use IF instead of BUT.
I have a lot of faith in traditional
medicine glad you took this path.
I wish you all the best !

'And the Lord placed his bow in the clouds' to signify that while the seasons endured, he would never again destroy the Earth. But where He stopped, we seem to have taken over! On the larger scale, we have caused more pain than prevented it - but on the individual scale, we have done better.
I said recently that my best friend in the UK died last week; I should have said 'male friend' since Angela has been my closest (platonic) friend for nearly 30 years. Amongst several other neurological problems, she has lupus. So when the writer says 'Living with Lupus', I have a good idea what that means - it can be at times 100% disabling - the pain unendurable - rather like my arthritis or gout on a very bad day.
So to be as optimistic as his poem, requires a miracle - or a faith - and here, both! There are some things which cannot be 'endured' without faith: when I was waiting for a triple bypass op. five years ago, I had no anxiety whatever - I just read the psalms and the Gospels - and let God take the strain! In the high maintenance ward, after two days, it was clear that I was recovering much faster than others with less invasive surgery - and I realized that it was my strong philosophy and optimistic faith which was a significant part of the healing process. God was there for me!
And there is His promise, Who 'set the rainbow in the rain' - for each one of us to see - and remember.
Love from Paul

In spite of all you endure, you are always the first to offer a word of encouragement to others, along with a prayer and a smile...
You have Lupus, Debi--but it has never had you!
Writing has been your best therapy, my friend.
Not only for you..
But for us!
