Excellent writing. Good work.
And it is an amazing story of a very intelligent horse.
My guess is that after the 'several years', Willie determined that you were not able to give him enough attention and that Joyce offered the better deal.
Good luck in the contest.

Thank you. and thanks for the six stars. I think you're right. Joyce was the only one who rode Willie, and she often came over and spent time with the horse. Willie must have decided Joyce was his number one person.

I enjoyed reading your well-written story. Willie must have been quite the character. I especially liked the description of him as 'a Houdini in horsehide.' Thanks for sharing, and best wishes in the contest.

Thank you. Willie was a Houdini in horsehide. No matter how secure Joyce thought the horse was, he would find a way out.

You are an angel to have rescued Willie and other critters. People
who mistreat animals are some of the worst known to me. Your
story was well written with a positive ending. Yes, it seemed Willie
liked you best--he knew you were his hope for survival. Your story
had smooth flow with great details.
Thanks for sharing and caring and
best wishes in the contest, Jan

Thank you. It's a wonder my husband didn't divorce me. Either I rescued cats, dogs, or horses. We always had some negleted critter around. Lol

This is a story about a woman who rescues a neglected and abused horse, rehabilitates him and then finds him a new home. The horse, named Willie, becomes highly attached to the woman and behaves in an unusual way. The woman takes great care to ensure Willie goes to a loving and compassionate new owner, but tragically he runs away from his new home. The story is a heart-wrenching tale of love and loss, but ultimately it is a story of hope and the power of rehabilitation.

Thank you. Willie was an exception to the rule in the world of horses. Horses become attached to someone who treats them well, but not usually obsessed.

Hello, Mystery Writer!
What a heartwarming true story!
How I love horses - all animals, really!
They know kind and loving hearts when they meet individuals. And Willie knew/knows he was in the hands and care of someone who loved him.
Beautifully rendered.
Flows well.
Thank you for sharing!

Thank you, and thanks for the six stars. Willie was an exception in the world of horses. Horses become attached to people who care for them, but not obsessed like Willie.

I thought only Mr. Ed could laugh. Who knew. An interesting piece.
notes:
If the horse was aware of me, {I don't think he cared; he had given up on humans and life in general.}
- I don't think he care. He[appeared] to have given up on humans and life
- I would add this word to maintain the non-fiction aspect.

Thank you. You're right, it would sound better with the added word. I will edit and correct.

A beautifully written heart-melting story of how Animals can really love and trust in our humanity. Im so happy that I got to read it; fortunate to be able to give you feedback too! I can give you nothing short of happy, heart-warming and positive words and vibes to go with it! Thank you! I wish I could get to work with horses; have never ridden one in my adult/grown up life, let alone know one!

Thank you, and thanks for the six stars. Horses form attachments for a kind caregiver, but are not usually obsessed like Willie was. He was different.

This is a story with a very happy ending! It is very sad to see the plight of many neglected animals, including horses. The writer gives a moving account of rescuing such a horse.

Thank you. Willie was unque in that he became obsessed with me. Horses form attachments to a kind caregiver, but not to the point Willie did.

Very enjoyable!
