Always glad to see Christianity get representation, it's so ripe with poetry that I feel more people should read the Bible. As for your poem, it was great! Rhyme scheme was good and it had heft!

This is a well constructed poem and I think the theme of hope will catch the voters' eye. Now, I think you would have an even better chance of gaining votes if you address the POV change in the last two lines:
He will lift our burdens I know.
I know how much he loves us so.

It is fine to me, but to the Poetic puritans it may be counted against you.

I enjoyed reading a positive emotion like hope. Hope is what keeps us going when it seems the world is falling about around us. Faith in the Almighty God and hope for a brighter tomorrow. Nicely written.
