There is so much revising of opinions, and reversal of the public's convictions, that, in my opinion, polls have become meaningless.
Thanks for bring it up!

It is obvious upon reading your Quatrain that you are speaking to a teacher from your past who began the semester with racial comments to incite and encourage division. I hope, with you, that whoever that was has truly had a change of heart. I think you made a valid point that our words and actions should not be hypocritical. That type of behavior is transparent and obvious to those who really know us. It is important not to spout out beliefs that we don't live by. Thank you for sharing this thought provoking work with us.

Did you compose this in your head while gardening, or just come up with the idea for your poem? I am in awe of your mastery with words. I do not believe that I could ever compose a swap quatrain. Basically, the swaps just involve altering sentence structure. But, you need strong sentences to swap so that the fourth line reinforces and strengthens the message. Otherwise, the quatrains become silly. In your poem, all of your swaps are good, but the two sets of questions are the most effective. The repeat seems to demand an answer from the teacher who seems to say one thing and mean another.

Your poem definitely resonated with me. I have been asking myself similar questions. I see so many white protesters among the blacks. That's a good thing, but I hope their actions stem from empathy and not just hatred of the government and the police. Some people just like a fight. That part of human nature is what is dark for me.

    Good Grief, Debbie!

I am honored by your exceptional rating and thoughtful review. And, yes, I did, indeed, think of much of what is contained in this offering while digging in the earth.
Based on two teachers and one administrator. Miserable individuals. And now? On social media, they are champions of the oppressed...

    Thank you again, friend!

This is a very good poem. And very timely. I can definitely see your point, there seems to be a lot of jumping on the band wagon at the moment which is obviously better than being rascist but how long with it last and is it real? Thanks for sharing this

This is a well written post. To touch on many emotions and skepticism can be healthy. With that is going on. I would caution people to not believe everything people with slogans shout and say is the problem. Being loud does not mean you speak the truth, and don't trust the news. Do your own research and remember two words: Responsibility and Perspective.

Your swap-quatrain poem is superb in all respects. It is skillfully-composed, with smooth "swap" lines. It is appropriately emotional--consisting of justifiable charges of hypocrisy, followed by hopes that this person really has changed--acknowledgment that people CAN change! This is just a great poem!

What a very good swap quatrain, and it's been written very well indeed, and as you always do, apply your incredible skills to the poetic table. Excellent iambic pentameter and aabb rhyming. Great language, and a very current, and it's a resounding amen from me. Well done, blessings Roy

I know many who this could apply to. I do hope that this time change will happen. It's taken hundreds of years, and yet, I still think prejudice will continue in some walks of life. Why? Why should colour count against who a person is? There are good coloured people and bad, exactly the same as there is in the white people, in every country. Well done, Diane, this is a really well written swap quatrain. I enjoyed the message you are sending and totally agree with it. :)) Sandra xx

You are correct, a banner does not disclose the principle or belief of the banner, or any one of the main principles of the goals being sought or how they will be implemented, financed or enforced.

With marching and shouting prevailing, most of the marchers do not realize that there is no picture on the puzzle box; only later do they sense the reality of the Frankenstein monster that has launched.

On the bottom of the box is printed, "Pause, before opening 'Pandora's box.'"

I hope that there will be a day when racism is a thing of the past. We are all one race and we should all be working together. I thought this was a well written and a powerful piece.
