Many thanks, Geoff. The reader definitely must participate when there's only 50 words. Thank you for doing just that and being so kind in your regards.

Hi Jay,

Great job with this one. Very few words to play with so straight to the meaty parts. I love this format. lol

It's all there. the illicit romance, cultural/race divide, prejudice, misguided religious beliefs.

Got to be in with a great chance of taking the prize.

All the best
G

Many thanks, G. I'm thrilled you enjoyed this and were able to take away from it all the main points. With only 50 bullets, the reader definitely must participate.

Wow! I had to read this twice (at 1:30 AM) to make sure I was getting it right. It's a powerful piece and should be a very strong contender for the contest.

Powerful piece... very well done, and in just a few words. That takes real skill, and you have it. I had no idea where this was going, and it hit me like a brick. Sure wish I had a six.

Your kind words are always worth more than a six any day. I hope the judges feel the same as you. Thanks, Phyllis.

Dynamite compression. Susie's pregnant. (Once it's born,)
Conflict ( they'll accept me.) Her boyfriend has been sneaking for some time into her bedroom by climbing a tree.
Daddy's caught on. The boyfriend is black and a trespasser. Yep, he can get away with murder as far as the law and God are concerned. Biting last line. Redneck dialect. Super, Jay.

You don't know how thrilled I am to get such a positive review from you, Shari. It means so much to me. Thank you. I looked for a thumbs up, but discovered I have none. You are on my list for when the new arrival ... um arrives.

Nice job in a place I've not seen you visit! Concise and very much to the point. good luck in the contest.

I'm back from "down under" and found Australia a most fascinating country. Time to get back to writing and reviewing.

Six weeks before we're off to Cambria!

Thanks for your kind words and your sixer, Ray. So soon you're coming to Cambria? I thought you got there in July.

Oh, Jesus, Jay, this little dribble might just as well have been that shotgun pointed at ME - straight through the heart - KAPOW! Man, I surrender. I thought I'D written a great dribble until I read this one. (LOL)

Oh, Dawn ... you are so funny. You know how fickle these contests are. Besides, I read your dribble and thought it was very good. Or was it the drabble? You sure know how to make a body feel good, though.

There are two contests, and yes - you read the drabble, I think, not the dribble - or was it vice versa.... LOL. (OMG)

With an economy of words you've shown some things are agonizingly slow to change. I don't think this could have been said better with any other amount of words. This form could be your specialty.

Oh! Crap!! No chance that limb might break and save him?? What a wonderful entry in this contest Mr. Jay. I actually KNOW people who think like this, sad to say. The realism...'And God, he fergives the Christian.' Gotta be the winner here!!! Brilliant. Blessings...

This really packs a punch, I was wondering at first about them calling the baby "it", and then her daddy shows up. Gun-totin' redneck bigot if I've ever read about one. Great job, I'm more or less speechless at this point - a strong contest contender for sure!
