You have no peer when it comes to lampooning everything Including yourself if that will get a laugh!! This was also right on the monet point by point. Lots of complaining but little action to back it up. Exceptional piece.

Hi Mikey.
I appreciated the sentiments expressed throughout the piece.
There has been a lot of essays written on this subject recently, myself included.
This being my fourth month on the site now, I have seen the rotation in the prompts come around. I took it as the same prompt I had entered last time round with a different piece. I managed to win both times with very different stories.
I guess having signature styles is fine to a point but when people vote on name recognition rather than content that is an issue and can put people off. It is supposed to be about the writing as you so eloquently pointed out.
The member created prompts are generally ignored by the masses. I remember your one took quite a while to get going, but was a great competition when it took off. Michaelk's sponsored contest went well too.
My writing has improved no end thanks to going up against 'The Big Boys' in a short space of time, likewise my poetry. I hadn't actually written prose since I left University 21 years ago!
I always try to point out before voting begins if something isn't right. I had a piece that had 60 odd reviews and no one pointed out I forgot to remove the picture before voting. Frustrating.
Many thanks again for this piece, and the ball on this will keep rolling and rolling on...

I've been on this site since 2004 and I have entered one contest when I first joined and that was it for me. I haven't entered one since that time and I probably will never enter anymore. When there is only a hand full of people voting in them. It just seems like a joke for me. There are thousands of people on this site and only a hand full of voters. That just doesn't add up to anything but nonsense for me. If there were many voters for contests, I may enter them, but the way it is now is just nonsense as far as I'm concerned. It is like a vanity publisher. This was a well written article that I enjoyed reading... John

Love the topic
This is how it is in every arena
Big Boys over Small Boys
Ever thought about Fanstory.
Experienced writer competing against newbies in contests
I couldn't agree with you more about these games

For all the people who moan and groan with the problems on this site - I don't see them starting their own website where they could come up with an original contest every day - lol! Well written rant Mikey:)
