With your usual panache, you've penned a most delightful free verse, Sharyn - a completely unexpected twist, too, and I loved it (though I'm sure you'd know I would.:)Wonderful!

Rain, hail or sunshine we are very hard to please but then throw in the floods ,cyclones and storms and bushfires and well... trust starts to wain. I enjoyed your poem and slthough we are coming into winter I can relate to the desperation you speak of.
I really liked the format. It was very effective and you have chosen a great pic.I did have a little chuckle too. OOPS!

aah, I knew you were an Aussie as soon as I heard "bushfires" - you guys have had the extremes in the last few years, big-time! I was in Brisbane and Mackay the year before last and both places had been wiped out by floods. My mother's in Tassie - huge fires! ouch!Glad you enjoyed the chuckle dear - believe me, the timing ALWAYS works out that way, dammit! :)))Sharyn

The writer seem hyperactive, always moving and looking for something to do. Her words run down the page,as she watches nature's babies play and bathe in the sun. Very hot descriptive words displaying nature.

Comment from Curly Girly
This is a good poem which was well written. The lack of rain is always a worrying thing. Yes, we should trust God, but sometimes it does get too dry too.

hey Nicole - we've had a full six weeks of NO rain and then, 2 days ago, JUST as I pull up my patio to re-paint - BOOOM! now I'm dashing down to drain off my swimming pool and we have a river running through the back yard! c'est la vie! joke's on me! :)
-
lol! We are very short of rain here. But usually it never stops.
-
where do you live these days??
-
The southermost tip of the South Island, NZ.
-
oh yes - very wet there, right? We get 150 inches of rain a year here, but it all seems to fall at once!

This is such a wonderful poem, Sharyn. It's the time of year things are starting to heat up. I know it does get mighty warm where you're at! I love the message you unfolded through this beautifully presented piece. Relief will certainly come, we just have to be patient sometimes. Very well done! :)Brian

six weeks dry as a bone, Brian - then two days ago - whammo! a river's running thru my back yard, waterfalls pouring down both sides of the road and a river running thru my back yard - all, of course, JUST as I rip up my patio to re-do and re-paint. Rueful laughter - happens every year - have to see the funny side of myself sometimes, yes? Thank you SO much for your lovely six on this one my dear!

Dear Sharon,
You have skillfully painted the parched grass and your inner struggles. yet, the universe will have its jokes, no? A very vivid and enjoyable read, especially the innocent humor you allow yourself in the end. Nicely done--Ted
