Thank you Kiwi, We didn't have a computer at the time. Today I think most kids are getting their adventures on wii. My grandson is one of them.

Hi Beth, and a special wish for you for 2011. Grief, with an energy ball like this, I'd have no hair. This tale was fascinating and I thoroughly enjoyed the account of your son Don. He sure is a tenacious little monkey.
Well done. Take care - luv jada

Thank you Jada, I survived and grew up but he is still an interesting character. I just don't have to be responsible for what he does these days.
    Happy New Year to you,

Fascinating and true (it's too wild to be fiction) story of your son's misadventures. Your writing was clear, easy to follow, and held my interest. I thought my kids were a handful! Best wishes in the contest. Blessings, Hector

Thank you Hector. He was quite the handfull. I have three daughters well. They gave me different kinds of problems. Don is still an adverturer but I just don't have to be responsible when he gets in trouble.

If your son's whole life was this adventurous and accident prone, you could write a book or more. Very well done with your entry, Buck

Thank you Buck. I've got enought material to make of book of just his growing up years. Of course, if he ever realizes I've written all this about him, he may disown me as his mom.

lol oh my it does sound like he keeps you on your toes! :) Very amusing story filled with very amusing mini stories; ones that would make any mothers hair curl.

Thanks for the laughs and the great read; good luck with your son and may his overworked guardian angel forever be around :):)

Oh dear, never a dull moment with that one! Sounds like he could write his own adventure stories. The discripition in this work is told with stunning clarity. The chronology of events is consistent. The sentence structure is nicely tuned. An over, well written, well thoughtout story that makes for a wonderful read.

long after the incidences had passed - incidents?
Beth, Don sounds like he is one free-spirit, and quite a resourceful one at that - I love praying to God for a successful run at the Vegas casinos and painting the spikes gold in particular. LOL As always, your narrative voice is engaging and keeps my eyes glued to the page from first to last word :-) Brooke

Thank you Brook, I appreciate the review and comments and the correction. He was a challenge to raise. Now he is incredibly creative but he still has to learn everything by doing it wrong first.

My son, Don, was born with a lust of adventure. (I think this is true for every boy.)

Sounds like a mother of a son. We never get the full truth right away, but it always comes out, at some point.

Thank you Barbara. It sounds like you know about those boys too. The truth is on a need to know basis and what they think you need to know is if they have to tell in order to get the money they need to get them out of the scrape they're in.

Shaking my head at the many ways your son found to put himself in harm's way--you must have a lovely full head of pristine white! I have 3 daughters and hope to get through menopause before they hit puberty. Thanks for sharing this funny and true recount of your adventurous boy's clutzy capers.

Thank you so much for the review and comments. I have three daughters too and they produce a different kind of problems but my son is the one who has provided me with the most story material.

Of course that is ridiculous idea, because when you're raising a son, it is best to keep your guard up at all times.
I couldn't agree more - mine comes in the form of my eldest kid , Shaun.

I relished in the false assumption that maybe the summer had afforded him enough adventure to get him through another term in college. Time would prove me wrong.
Sounds like you can write a series of books on this one son - "What Don Did", "What Don Did Next".

I think nowadays - sons or daughters, it's guard on 24/7!

Good luck in the contest, Beth.

Thank you so much for the review and comments. I've written several essays on my son's many escapades in the past, and there will be more. Of course, if he ever reads these, he may disown me as his mother. He has certainly provided me with plenty of material.
