I am not frightened of any bugs, except ROACHES, they are horrible!!! Just reading this made me feel ill, so you certainly conveyed the atmosphere. We'll done this is a fine piece of writing.

I had to laugh at this story because it reminded me of an apartment I had once that was roach-infested. I like the way you explain all of this trauma with those ugly insects. Couple of word changes--2nd paragraph,first sentence, take out "where." Last sentence, it should read, "Why take the fun out of it by planning ahead?" Good story.

Gods, Beth, this is more like a horror story as far as I am concerned. I don't believe I've ever seen a roach. We have some big, black beetles over here but they rarely come in the house. You have made the cottage sound gorgeous - until the insect population appeared. Wild horses wouldn't have dragged me in there to sleep, even after fumigating! You're very brave...and so is Evan.
I so love your writing style. Great stuff

What a way to start off a marriage :), but they say that love will conquer all. I enjoyed reading your story and can fully relate to not making plans, thats the way I started too. But today its different and plans are good to have. A couple of errors I noticed:

All our possessions where were stacked in the trunk(don't need where)

out in the front yard of (a) nice older home tacking

Oh, what a different life today's newly-weds experience compared to some years ago... I adore your writing style - you have me laughing out loud and glued to my monitor. Waking to a ceiling covered in dying roaches must have been a nightmare! But what a great story to tell. Thanks for sharing.
