A great respectful tribute to the people who keep our country going. The family man who is overlooked, underpaid, and so important. An admirable piece of work.

Sue - How many poems have you posted this year? Every time I look, I see another new poem posted by you, each one of high quality, imagination and creativity. And this tribute to the working man is no exception. Loved it. Charlie

My husband is a builder. Top man in a large company with work falling to the wayside right and left. Scary times indeed. This was good Sue and thought provoking.

Commercial, industrial or residential (or all of the above?). I remember the early 90's credit crunch. Devastating for all construction, but came back quicker than we thought. Hopefully this will the case this time. Thanks for your review, Jude. Sue

Hi, Sue.
I find 'And not remiss' a little contrived an stuttery.
Maybe 'and never miss' is simpler an fits better?
I did that job fa six months an sh*t meself every second (didn't wear harnesses in them days as was considered 'nansy'). Also only havin one leg didn't help. Now I can't step up a curb without gettin vertigo!
Great an topical sentiments in a difficult form achieved.
Best wishes, Ray xx

Why is it that you ALWAYS catch my contrived words? LOL!!!!! I swear to you, when I feel a bit queasy about a line (but try to sneak it through -ha!) you catch it!!! You won't let me get away with anything. That's why I luv ya so. Thanks for that, Ray :)) Sue

Another triumph from you. I love reading your stuff. By the way I agree with your author notes absolutely in every respect. Across the pond here it's just the same, people are losing their jobs by the thousand every day. What annoys me is that the corporate fat cats who all had huge bonuses up to now are still sitting pretty and can afford to live whether they lose their jobs or not! All the best to you.

I agree with your sentiment in the poem, so many just want to work, get paid, come home and BE. I love these people. They don't ask for anything for free. I agree also with your rant in the author notes. We'll see how it goes...good one. :)

I really enjoyed this, especially as the guy looks like my husband (who was a rigger). Nice rhythm and good rhymes. Also a very important message - which comes across well. :)
