Our furniture will dry and the carpets may salvageable.
did you mean to have the word be before salvageable

This is a very good but heartbreaking poem. I am so happy your son is back from Iraq. God bless you and him also. Love, Teri

Thank you, Teri. I am sure I did mean to have the word "be" there. I will fix it! Many thanks for the great review.

Oh this is a wonderful story. I am so sorry for your flooding and the work and losses that go with that. I am from Louisiana and we hosed two different families through Katrina and Rita. Most folks have a good attitude about the losses. But you have written a story to inspire us all on. Oh and please tell your son I send thanks to him for serving our country and fighting for freedom. I am grateful he made it home safe. Thanks, Jeanette

I really like the rainbow at the end. Not to make light of a horrible tragedy, but there is a story that came out of Katrina about a man who was forced to take refuge on top of his house. A rowboat came by and offered to take him in. "No, no," the man said. "God will provide." The water kept rising, and now was up to his shins. A speedboat came by and offered him a ride. "No, no. God will provide." Finally, he is clinging for dear life to the edge of the roof and a helicopter flies over. He waves off the the rope they are dropping to him. "God will provide." Not surprisingly he drowned. The man said, "I've served and loved you all of my life, why did you let me die?" God said, "What more could I do. I sent you two boats and a helicopter." Yours was really a great story. Ray.
