This is a beautifully written poem about a very tragic subject. It is so hard to know those precious memories have been erased. For the son, there is the sad knowledge that someone who loved is all but gone and theres a possibility it could happen to him as well some day.

Beautifully written and from the realistic heart. Alzheimer's confuses and steals memories. Of course Lee will return, it's his Mother. One day (and the Drs are close) there will be a slight repair to the brain that will give back decency. K xx

Unfortunately scenes such as these are not uncommon, and I think the family suffers even more than the victim of Alzheimers and Dementia. It;s a very sad way to lose a loved one. Well expressed in very realistic terms, showing great insight into both their characters and their relationship. A fine and meaningful poem.

I know such people as Lee, heartbroken as they visit their parent with Alzeimer's. They still visit and show their love and sing to them and show them photographs to the shell of their parent. So sad! You told their story well.

I myself have had two strokes that affected my long term memory lost it but slowly recovered my mother kad Alzheimer's and I found it difficult to deal with as she would look so lost at times Thank you for Sharing and bringing awareness to this issue many aging people have

This is really good and a little sad (as Alzheimer's always is). I really like the call back to the height at the end, it really tied the poem together.
I'm so going to read this to my mom tomorrow. Alzheimer's stuff really touches her. I'm sure she'll love it.
