I tell the world I married the best woman in the world ... for me. Ten years my junior she taught me patience though it took many years, and still may be a W.I.P. When we first wed I would cause a stir now and then, until the day she said no more, got up and closed the door to another room telling me if you want to argue you'll need to do it with yourself as I refuse to participate. We haven't since soon after that night. Happy Anniversary.

Smart woman you married. It takes a lot of luck in finding the right person to start with and a bit of compromise for a marriage to last a long time. I've been very lucky.

Jim, I find that I agree with you more often than not when it comes to your different opinions from Elise's; I would have touched up the frosting on the cake and taken it with me.
Fruit salad all the way:-) (Even though my husband isn't a fan of mixing them.)
Did you miss the "tell a story in one sentence" contest? You had a whopper there you could have entered!
I'm so happy that you've been so happy for so long - rare and rewarding to hear about. Happy anniversary to you both.
Isn't the Golden Anniversary present a trip to Paris:-)

Exactly! The dog didn't lick the whole top but only a few spots. Besides, dogs lick faces all the time, and people never seem to mind. Thanks for siding with me, Pam!
It's nice that we're the same age and are growing old together. We've got similar aches and pains and have the same dumb memory lapses which we can just laugh about.
Trip to Paris? That's for younger folk who can stand sleeping in strange beds for more than a couple of days at a time. :)

Oh Jim, I had a good laugh as I read this. What a wonderful fifty years you've had together, and if it cannot be another fifty years, then I hope for many more happy years still. Your wife sounds like a beautiful and wonderful woman with a great sense of humour. Thanks so much for sharing. And happy Golden anniversary. Ulla:)))

Thanks so much, Ulla, for your wonderful review and for the 6 stars. I don't know about another 50 years, but I'd be happy with another 25. She is a saint for putting up with me.

Well, you've found one that puts up with you for 50 and trail you by a few years as mine has put up with my antics for forty-four and counting.
Amazing to think back and wonder where those years have gone...
Early congrats to you and Mrs Jim! And many more...

I got very lucky finding one who was willing to do that. Congrats to you too, John, for your longevity. I expect to hear about your 50th when you get there!

Good for you, Jim. You have reached your gold wedding anniversary and are still happily married. That is more than some can say for their bonded relationship. You are very lucky and because she took you back you always remind yourself just how lucky you are and that is good.
Welcome to the world of happily married couples!

Thanks very much, Jesse. Makes me wonder where I'd be today had she not taken me back.

Good question.
One will never know.

Wow! You really did almost lose this argument for us, Jim. When you take a hit for something you did wrong, don't pull the rest of us in the hole with you. Ten percent?

What, you think it's higher than that, Bill? I'll go as high as 20--maybe!
Comment from Wayne Fowler
How nice. I started to type sweet, but not only would that be out of character for me to say, but also inaccurate. I'd like to hear her side.
interminably long sentences that are.... grammatically and puncuationally correct!
parsimonious ???? and she lets you live??????? No matter the meaning, it sounds like an insult!
Please remind your wife how lucky a man you are. (smiley face here)

Yes, sweet would definitely be out of character, Wayne!
Oh, I remind her every day how lucky I am. Perhaps that's the only reason she stays with me.

Yes it's a wonderful story of a long lasting love in an era when people almost don't believe such love is possible - wishing you and your beloved many more happy years together.
