You absolutely have everything to be proud of with this little girl. It's an amazing thing. What children can do when they finally find out that there are others in the world who are far less fortunate that they are. I love your poem, and the story the way you told it.

Sounds like she had great parenting! I'm so glad that she could replace the lack of "Santa" cheer and getting with a more lasting JOY in giving and caring for others in need. We never did the "Santa" thing with out kids as it gave a sense of betrayal to my husband when he found out on the grade school playground. He couldn't believe his parents would make something like that up.
Hope your poem entry does well in the contest!

Beautiful Poem. From the loss of innocence revealing a less savory truth, to finding a greater purpose that is more wondrous than the original fantasy. This is a lovely story of the growth in true maturity. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for sharing this Christmas poem with us. It is hard for children to learn there's no Santa, but I still believe in Christmas magic. I think a lot of people do. Jesus helps make that magic possible. Good luck with the contest.

Oh my goodness, Jess!
Your daughter has a rare kindness that some adults have lost in the eyes of world realities. It's refreshing to know that those seeds are still out there and have been planted so tenderly by (parent) parents like you into their children's hearts.
I can't say enough about the professionalism, genuine grace, and love that spills over in each piece you write about your daughter.
Simply beautiful, Jess! Best JohnC

I can remember when I found out that Santa wasn't real and I was devastated. But like your daughter, Christmas did take on new meaning for me and I still love this time of year. A well written piece, Jessica. I hope you have a great Christmas and a I wish you a Happy New Year.
