This is powerful and poignant. My favorite line would have to be, we are all bereft of touch. This line says it like no other. I wanted a dog too when I was young. I thought I needed a dog to feel free. Maybe that is how we feel when we love someone else unconditionally.
Yes, I think this is so true and so right.

Oh my, my friend has returned in full force. And what a greeting it was. Thank you, and Merry Christmas.

Sometimes, dogs are truly a man's best friend. Their simplicity and simply adorable facial expressions can heal us of any inner wounds cast by trauma, or a negative event in our lives. I sincerely hope you can get a dog, because they are truly a gift :)

I think most men want her dog at some point in their lives. I wish you a very merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous new year. I also wish you the very best with your writing here on fan story. Patric.

I can completely relate to the themes in this piece. I recently lost my beloved fur baby, a Burmese cat called Sally, in September, and it was a massive wrench. I'm bringing home two new little boy kittens in January so that will once again provide me with that companionship you have written about. Thanks for the share.

    Smiling, thank you.
An adjunct-I had a vietnam vet in my practice with severe PTSD, (man this stuff is REAL), and I actually found him a psychologist right close to my office, that worked with the VA.
Long story short. We became very good friends, he became MUCH better. But-he recently lost his beloved dog. He is grieving soo much, he will not consider a new one, despite my recommendation of such. Does that tell you how much the love of an animal may help one?

This is such a 'touching' piece of well written free verse poetry Victor. I could not 'live' without my dog. I named her Sunshine s that s what she brought into my life.
"And we'll heal ourselves,
and live, and love,
and be..."
Beautiful!
