Do I say this every week: You've really outdone yourself this time!! You did SUCH an exceptional job with this larger-than-life man/legend! I like the way you made him so multi-dimensional, because no one is "just" a movie star or a singer. And you brought that home in the perfect way. I also always love the comprehensiveness of your Author's Notes. You don't leave out anything, but you present them so well, they're fascinating rather than "dry."

Finally, of course, you chose THE best song. It makes everything so poignant.

Another masterpiece, Sweet Deb!! I'm not kidding when I say that I genuinely look SO forward to these every Sunday! You never but never disappoint! xoxoxo

Thank you sooo much, Elle! I so nearly gave up on this one and was tearing my hair out at one point. And what an amazing interview you gave! It read so smoothly and you certainly didn't leave anything out (because that was quite a complex undertaking). No wonder everyone wants you as their mentor! She's a beautiful lady isn't she? Thank you again for your kindness and encouragement, greatly valued, of course. Debbie xos

    Always my pleasure.

I can't imagine you struggling! Isn't that the ultimate compliment? But that, genuinely, is how I imagine you at your writing desk? Think it, write it down flawlessly in one sitting. Voila. Done. Next! I am THAT level of Devoted Fan! xxox

He was my Father's favourite and he had so many hits Debbie, I am amazed you managed to fit in so many here. I always thought he was a bit old fashioned growing up. Thank you for reminding us of all his hits, he had an easy style when it came to singing and he lead a full life as he was in films too. A wonderful melody in your poem here Debbie, much enjoyed, love Dolly x x x

Thank you so much, Dolly! Sadly, I just lost my reply but, just to say, could I possibly ask if 'campaign' fitted with the meter in the Kennedy stanza? It was driving me mad! Bless you for your support and encouragement. Debbie x

The metre is fine in that line Debbie, it works perfectly x x x

Debbie, this is another excellent poem in your series. I do like Ol' Blue Eyes. I like a lot of the songs you mentioned, and I was very entertained by how you worked them to tell the story. You are really good at that.

I know he did Stormy Weather, but I do associate that more with Lena Horne.

I would also offer he had...High Hopes...for the Summer Wind. Okay, the songs are good, but I best leave the poetry up to you! Excellent. Terry.

This is another triumph of blending biography with song titles in a seamless rhyme and metre. It's such a clever combination. I thoroughly enjoyed this one, especially as my Mum was a big fan!

Now you're talkin'! There is so much of his music I like, even though I didn't care for the man. I have heard that he introduced Marilyn Monroe to Kennedy, and that the singer in the movie "Godfather" was fashioned after Sinatra and his mob ties.

I like the way you broke the song title up at the end to make it work for your stanza. Very creative.

Everywhere I go now - where there are young millenniums - I always hear his music. I commented to the 20-something one day at the coffee shop (they were playing a "best of" his music), and she replied, "I love me some Sinatra." Who doesn't?

Another great biographical poem, Debbie. I always look forward to them on Sunday mornings.

Have a wonderful week ahead.

Dear Pam, thank you so much for this very kind review and, as ever, your informed comments! The first thing my husband said was that he didn't like Sinatra but I had to admire him for his dedication to the stage and commitment to social issues. All these folk I'm doing, who lived through the Depression, seem to have had some connection, no matter how tenuous, with either the Mafia or Communism. Or is that too big a generalisation? Thanks again. Take care Debbie xos

Yes, you did a fine job of recreating Frankie's lifestyle whether his choices of who he associated with were good or not is nobody's to decide but himself. The Mob was in part responsible for his fame and in the movie roles he won over the talent scouts without even doing an audition, it is rumored. But who is to know and who is to judge he sang with the best of them like you said he was one of the all-time best singers!

Thank you so much, Jesse! As ever I really appreciate your kindness and informed comments. It's so difficult to know how entrenched his connection with the Mafia went because no biography is going to stick its neck out for litigation reasons but his Sicilian roots might hint at the truth. Thanks again. Keep well and upbeat, Debbie

Agreed, no one is going to touch this with a ten-foot pole.
We will have to leave the truth to our imaginations.

You have brought back memories of so many songs with this poem, but I still have the memory of another great singer at the back of my mind, but the name seems to have gone forever... life is very frustrating at the moment. And what birth stats you dug out - incredible. Your presentation of these biographies is extremely comprehensive. kay

Thank you so much, Kay! I so nearly gave up on this one because of the wealth of material and always find myself saying 'never again.' But I, sort of, end up getting hooked on the story and the song titles. Your encouragement, believe me, is greatly valued. Take care Debbie

Wow! This is a terrific bio-poem of Frank Sinatra, using many of his hits in your verses. You remain objective throughout, as you point out his virtues and flaws. I saw him at Lake Tahoe when he was "friends" with the Mob. Rod

Thank you so much, Rod! I really appreciate your kind review and thoughts. How great to have seen him! Apparently quite a small, skinny and unprepossessing man until he got up on that stage he owned! Take care Debbie

And he could truly sing back in the 40s and 50s. When I saw him, his voice was going. He made up for it with style.

You've done it again, a great rundown on the musical life of the famous Frank Sinatra, as always, well researched, so well rhymed and written, the songs are woven beautifully within the narrative, well done, blessings Roy
