I'm sooooo glad you shared this. I, too, have an abnormal fear of being late. My sons always teased me about that. I'm usually ready AT LEAST an hour before I even have to leave the house. What day you had that day. Bless your heart.

Thank you for the great review and six stars. It is good to know there are others out there with the fear of being late. I inherited it from my dad. He used to sit in the car and blow the horn trying to rush my mom who was always running late.

Oh man that sounds like a very frustrating journey! I can almost feel the frustration when you're trying to get your clothes to do up or make a Gas pump work I don't like being late either. I think it's kind I don't know unseemly I guess is the word. Well done I was almost getting pissed off with you L o l. I see no issues with grammar spelling sentence structures or esthetics. You got a great entry. I quite like it best to f*** too. You haven't awesome day!

Thank you for the great review. Having something to write about that people find funny makes it all worth it. I picked up the shirt I had on that day and put it on today and it still reaks of gasoline after a week.
I wonder if I wash it with the other laundry, if all my clothes will have the odor.
reply by Lea Tonin1 on 16-Nov-2023
It might if you have gained laundry soap there. I suggest that oh get all the smell out

Thank you Karen. The fact I got a story from it made Murphy's Law go down a little smoother. I'm glad you found it funny.

Agreed. Do not like being late for anything.

"be on at work on" should read be at work on.

Tearing the house apart unable to locate a missing item can be so aggrevating.

"gage" should be gauge.

"There is station" should be There is a station.

"bob and up" should read bob up.

"pull the nozzle" should read I pull the nozzle.

Had that happen to me once where the stupid gas kept coming out of the hose all over the ground, my car, and me. Was so ticked off If I'd had a match...viola! Problem of that station solved.

"would at be diluted" should read would be diluted.

This is funny. I couldn't help but laugh at your expense. My boys have often wondered about me. Andrew's favorite line is, "Mom, how did that work for you?" GRR!

I can't handle being late. (I can't either and am married to a man who can't stand to be on time. It drives me crazy.)

Thank you Barbara. I glad you got a laugh. It didn't work out well for me other than I got a story from it. My husband and children always seem to work at making me late. I apparently got this from my Dad. He was even worse than me.

I very much enjoyed your essay of a frustrating day. Throughout were little nuggets of your personality shining through. I'm sure your kids were glad to have you, with scent of gas or not.

Thank you Verna. I'm glad you liked this. My kids seem to enjoy doing things with me. I guess they felt sorry me after I told my story because they didn't shame me in spite of the smell.

All the time I've reading your writing I never knew you had this particular problem. I must admit it's an unusual one Beth, usually it's the opposite problem, that people have trouble being on time, perhaps it's perfectionism, beautifully written, blessings, Roy

It is a problem and I don't like others being late either but I wasn't able to get my kids to be on time.

Goodness, ma'am, this gets me too! I just hate not being on time and my anxiety goes haywire! Makes life so complicated for that period of time.

A couple of critiques I noticed:

"However, there is something which most of my family shrugs off as nothing important, but which freaks me out to (the) point my brain is totally out of control."

"I pulled up (to) a pump and put my card in, A (and a) touch screen popped up."

"If there had been a spark, I would have spontaneously combusted." - this sentence is structured fine, but spontaneous combustion does not require a spark, so the point misses the mark. I understood your point here.

"The battery was dead on my cell, so (I) couldn't call to tell them I'd be late."

Thank you for sharing, ma'am. I appreciate you. I look forward to your next work.

I always worry someone will take offense, so thank you for the reception. Dang PTSD always makes me loopy.

We are all different, but we do have many likenesses. I love words as an art form when used properly because it connects us by experience or feeling.

    You?re very welcome, ma?am.
