Your free verse creates a realustic scene that is filled with nostalgia and longing. And then, with one musical note, hope fills the air. Nicely done.

This was really good, Jess. You know my main focus is rhyme and meter, but I do enjoy a well written free verse poem. This one had a nice pattern and rhythm to it.
I loved the way the old piano sat there anticipating someone coming along to release its beauty again. Is that someone you, by any chance? What a marvelous use of the dust theme.
Very well done! - Jim

When it's good, it's good, Jess--rhyme or no rhyme.

This free verse, Revival, creates a scene of rediscovery of the silent furniture which has waited for the touch of a new diviner to dig through the layered negligence and find the spring of joy. Nice.

Bring again to life with just one touch. I would think anyone would understand this appealing attempt to resurrect any musical instrument. Did a good job here Jessica. Something within everyone's capabilities. Good write.

My pleasure.

Superb, Jessica and deserving of a six of which sadly I have none (why are these so scarcely supplied?). I can almost smell that dust sitting there. And the whole verse sings evocatively and meaningfully as the pianist strikes those chords and stirs up music and memories. Well done! Debbie

My sort of poem. Excellent free verse. Can't you put this in for the competition? Love the imagery and the careful choice of language, and the way it tells a story. Have a look at my 'Fire' on the front page of FanStory to see if you like my attempt at free verse.

This is beautiful, an excellent poem on a Friday that would be an exceptional poem on a Sunday. My favorite line was difficult to choose. I chose, "a note emerges
resonating
a declaration of resilience."
This was familiar to me as my husband is attempting to reconnect with piano playing himself and, I am. trying to renew my fine art talents.
It's put aside but feels so great when you realize it is part of whom you are so you are whole again. Best wishes!
