This post is sooo helpful. I've gone to book signings, and Meet the Author sessions at my local library, but have never gotten this much in-depth information about publishing. I appreciate knowing some of the things that can happen.
I joined a writing group at my library and submitted several short stories, which the group thought was intriguing and should be published in a book. I posted only one on FanStory and was told it was too long at around 2000 words.

Things happen. Writing and any other fun thing or Gift God gives you can wait. To do those when your are tired or distracted is not what they are meant to be like.

Thank you for sharing your publishing wealth of knowledge.
I published 2 books in Amazon and I had hardcover and ebook. The hc were about 6 dollars and the Kindle ebook was free. That was a mistake. I have a bunch of books I can publish but I do it on my own through Amazon... it takes a lot of time that I don't have now. Maybe in the future.

Thank you for the catch. I have made the correction. I would definitely buy a book of poetry from you. I'm sure there's a market for Christian poetry. I know there is for Christian romance.

I'm not good in front of more than a couple of people at a time. But I'm working on it. I'm an introvert and I'm working on that as well. I do have thick skin so I can take constructive critiques. Sounds like your life is pretty good. I try to write almost every day but it doesn't always happen. Gretchen

You're also holding down a full-time job. Do you still have kids at home??? I can speak in front of a classroom, but I freeze up in front of adults. I've been practicing reading the passage. LOL
