Wow! Reading your notes shows the successes of your students and I know you nurtured each one with the confidence they needed to succeed. Your poem shows us the care you instilled in them with:
"Good teachers gladly wait for them
so Tenacity they'll master."
and
"Caring's the ingredient
that brings its beauty out."
And of course, your book covered all of this and more with real life examples. Best wishes in the contest!

I'm back home. It was just a three-day getaway: last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Relaxing and enjoyable.

What an impressive feat. (Thanks for adding the notes.) Best thought: "They don't care what you know until they know you care." Also: 'nurturing young hearts.' Many students thanked me for listening to their fears and giving advice.

You obviously made a huge difference in their lives. Do you know this quote? Your comment just made me remember it: Every child is just one caring adult away from a great life. I love that you're out there for them, Spitfire. xo

I never heard that quote. Thanks for sharing.

I knew you were someone who'd appreciate it.

Post on Sundays. I'm out of sixes already. I can tell you love teaching. You are the kind of teacher that parents pray their children get. You care not only about whether or not they are learning (music) but if they are enjoying themselves, and if they are growing. You, my dear, are a gifted poet as well. Thank you for sharing this. Whoa! And I thought I was impulsive with sixes!!! LOL!! Still, your warm words and perpetual encouragement are worth far more than a gold star. So thank you for making me feel wonderful. xoxo

This poem, Love Given and Received, is a true testament to the power and influence of a great teacher with both a plan and a passion for leaving the world a better place.

In Hebrew, we call that "tikkun olam" --healing the world. Thank you for noticing. xo

I have enjoyed reading this very much, Rachelle. And not only because you write so well, but because I can relate.
I became a teacher on my last year at university and that's what I've always done. I'm fifty-eight now, so that means 37 years teaching EFL.
I usually teach mature students and a few teens, but they mean the world to me.
This is definitely a job you need to love. It's, as you say, a calling.
Beautifully written non-fiction and very interesting notes. Thanks.

Very nicely written.
Fabulous concept. Excellent. Especially that part about inheriting students who'd been properly taught.
How true, the dictum about "until they know you care"
Best wishes.

How wonderful to have a career and life you love so much. Those intangibles, they're priceless. Like the famed George Bailey, you're the richest girl in NYC. Sending you my best today as always, and my very best wishes in the upcoming contest.
