I'm sure this will be helpful to your our granddaughters and anyone that reads this. A wise word for them and valuable addition to your book.
I know us FanStorians can appreciate this too. I took the day off today and enjoyed a spa massage and facial.
Sending you my best today as always.

These have all been great stories for the Grandkids. Time Capsuling seems a good idea. I had no notice of all of these for some reason. I do see you had all-time best on previous chapters, so these have obviously been around for a while. I have read all of the chapters and you have done well, so far. Please notify me of the coming chapters.

Barbara, this is very well done. You have thought out the pros and cons in a concise a logical manner. The poster was also a good way to present it. Good job. Terry.

Interesting thoughts about the internet. When your granddaughters are in their teens, they'll really be caught up in the attractions of social media, etc. on the internet. You did a great job presenting the pros and cons. A personal thing I like is watching old TV shows like "Our Miss Brooks" on YouTube. judi

Thank you for your support. There are some great advantages to the Internet, but we need to be cautious of the other.

You're welcome. Teenagers, especially, need to be careful. judi

Remember the days of AOL? In the beginning, I couldn't believe what a wonderful tool the "world wide web" was and how it could benefit my children in their studies and socialization. It did just the opposite during their teen years - they studied less and gamed more unless I was looking over their shoulders every moment and they began to "socialize" in online forums more and face to face less.
I left social media a few years ago, and only use my laptop to write and research now. I get my news and information from reliable sources. Your grandkids will never know a world without computers.
Balance - the key to a happy life.
I enjoyed this, Barbara.

Thank you for the support. A young teenage girl from my town was befriended by an older man from another town. He ended up taking her. She was recovered in Colorado. We are in Texas. I'm not sure what all happened to her, but it was scary.

Virtual six! What a great topic to cover with your grandchildren! I always smile when I read your address because Charlotte is my oldest granddaughter's name.
I agree that the internet has made all those crimes and misinformation so much easier than in the past. Melville wrote about the "confidence man" but how much easier now that technology allows one to doctor up photos and voices and pretend to be someone that attracts a lonely, generous heart. Great post!

I enjoyed this, and saw no SPAGs, but I think your granddaughters would like a 'pre-internet' chapter. As I'm sure you do, I remember living in a house with a long bookshelf spouting an encyclopaedia, and I still have an extensive collection of paper dictionaries. kay

For sure, I'm addicted to the internet along with millions of others. I am not sure the good points outweigh the bad because of cyberbullying. Movies have been made of someone ruining a teenager's life.

Teens have attempted suicide because of cyberbullying. Thank you for the support.

This awesome post reminded me of how the internet has affected me, both in a positive way and in a negative way as well. I purchased a personal PC as soon as they became available. Prior to the widespread use of the internet, I primarily used my PC for playing games. After the internet I became a serious user of the business aspects available to users. It was also the time that I became serious about writing. I do not believe that my writing would have ever become as prolific as it has without the influence of the internet.

Good advice. everything in moderation. The real benefit of the internet is sites like Fanstory, where creative people can share their creativity. Then there is the ability to get info on travel destinations, distant friends and family. And that's about it. You forgot to mention the sinister aspect of Meta and Google and Microsoft and Apple gathering all this information about us and selling it to marketers. estory

Thank you for the support. That's sort of what I meant by one of the bullets. Maybe I'll make it more clear.
