It's not a game we have over here in the UK, but I think I heard somewhere that might happen one day. I can understand the excitement, how everyone gets involved with the game, the nearest we get to that is football. It's nice you and your sons enjoyed it together, and that you taught them the basic need to know to play. I can imagine you at the school sports day, cheering like crazy with the other dads. I enjoyed reading your story of those days and how it continues today. Well done, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

Thank you Sandra. I?m not sure but I think there a couple of scheduled games in the UK this season ( not 100% certain).
I enjoyed being involved in any of their activities (especially sports).
Thank you for this fantastic review.

I wonder if we have a baseball team up to the standard of your teams. Should be fun to watch. xx

I know nothing about baseball and reading your post has enlightened me, in particular the passion behind these words as you enjoy all aspects of baseball, roll on the summer, a fun read full of action and winning teams, love Dolly x

As I read this, I was reminded of the days when I played baseball with the neighborhood guys. Yes, baseball and not softball (LOL). Those were fun times and I watched the games with my dad. I never played on a school team, however, I kept up with players like Hank Aaron, Phil Niekro, Dusty Baker, Lou Brock.. just to name a few. A great story. Well written.

Thank you so much for sharing what baseball means to you. You convinced me that it is a wonderful sport and the rules are so complicated, too. But I understand those rules better than football. I especially liked how active you were in coaching baseball and how you passed on your love of the sport to your sons. I don't have that connection to the sport but I hope to move closer to my grandkids so I can watch them during their baseball games. My granddaughter was a pitcher in an all boys team.

I love baseball.
That is great about your granddaughter. I?m actually working on a book for middle school age kids about a girl playing baseball, and she pitches.
Thank you for reading my post! I do appreciate it.

Hooray! Let me know when you get it published! More girls should be baseball.

The extra star is not, though it likely could be, for the quality of this piece, but the remembering those days when kids lived and breathed baseball 24/7. How many nights did I listen to the broadcast of my beloved Phillies, and each morning to check how many hits the Splendid Splinter got, or if the Duke or Say Hey kid went long. When starting pitchers were expected to throw over 200 innings, and bunting was an art of itself.

Maybe we?ll see more bunting and stolen bases this year with rule changes. I hope so.
Thank for reading my post and the 6 stars!

An activity, any activity that involves a parent and their child/children becomes part of a legacy that can be repeated over generations. It connects parent to child to even grandparents. It can be and often is life affirming.

This question will draw the reader in: "Do you know what this means?" Another good draw. The reader will be invited to contemplate the question for themselves. A great summation.

This was a sweet and entertaining story about your memories and relationship with baseball. I really enjoyed reading it.
One note:
"except 25 years earlier and without, The Beast" doesn't need the comma after "without"
