This is a lesson in how to use all our senses and sight is probably the most prominent of all of them, then hearing and our other senses are heightened when blindness occurs. A poignant write Leann, love Dolly x

You are so right, and brave. I grew up in the blind community. I'm sighted, but a whole branch of my family, and uncle and cousins were blind. I'm very familiar with that community. I learned to play Canasta on Braille cards.

That is awesome! My friend bought me braille Uno cards and I am working on getting good and fast at the braille. I went to a training center to learn it, but I don't use it every day so I am very rusty. Coincidentally, all of my children have visual impairments, but I was not diagnosed until I was pregnant with my second child. I had no idea I even had this disorder. Thank you for your review, and God bless you.

Bless your heart. I imagine it's harder to learn all this. I admire your courage and good attitude.

Ingenious twist on the theme--this may well be a winner. A tour de force of a "tour"--I am awed by all you've led me to "see" in our awesome journey.

This was beautifully written. The way you describe how experiencing things are for you is well done. You manage to take what are everyday moments and force the reader to imagine it and remember it in a different way, pushing us to try and experience it the way you do.

Wow. This is so cool! You painted an entire picture with all your other senses. Awesome.
Now "see" the rays of warm spring sun
That dapple face and arms with heat.
When I'm at the beach I usually close my eyes because I'm surrounded by nothing but people. Only then can I focus on what the sun and breeze feel like on my skin, the smell of the ocean air, the sounds of the waves and kids laughing. The beach is one place I love to close my eyes.
This will do well in the contest! Have a great night.

Yes, I've written poems on the internal, things that have nothing to do with physical eyes, but more the metaphysical eyes, and an holistic sensual and spiritualised collective of the roses and poses around us, beautifully written Leann, in abab rhyming and tetrameter stanzas, smooth and articulate, well done, blessings Roy

Worth reading Leann
Comment from Susan Newell
This is so refreshingly original I had to give it six stars. So many poems here are clearly written to fit a picture after the picture has been chosen. In this case, the contest requires that. Your words have presented a true diversity of images to fit a blank canvas, or should I say a full canvas, since black is the presence of all colors. I will read this again when I can devote myself to it exclusively.

I'm sorry I don't have a six for this. Magnificent, dear Leann. My world is etched in black and gray with freakish tunnel vision. I have very little left. I appreciate my world, regardless of what it looks like. My others senses have increased, as I thought they would. My greatest perceptions have been spiritual and I've grown very close to God. This is a gift and it eases my collective losses. Sending you my best today and blessings always,

Thank you, Sally. I too, have drawn nearer to Jesus after the total loss of my vision. And isn't it a really cool thing when you hear a telephone pole that you're walking by? :-) The first time that happened to me, it startled me and I jumped and kind of freaked out a little. Ha ha thank you again. Hugs and blessings.
