I liked reading this selection about zebras very much. It made up for not being able to go to the local zoo this summer. I had never heard of a spotted zebra before, either! I had not researched this in-depth before. Now I am hoping to see a herd of zebras and impress someone by saying, "That dazzle of zebras is dazzling!"

I loved the name, dazzle, it does describe them perfectly. Thank you so very much for the six shiny stars and the wonderful review, my friend. I'm so pleased you enjoyed the last letter in my animal alphabet. Warm hugs. Sandra xxx

Sorry for not keeping up with the recent entries. I have been very busy with getting ready for college and things, but I am glad I arrived for the final one!

I really love zebras. I always make sure to see them if im at the zoo, such lovely creatures. We used to call them "horses in pajamas!".

I will really miss this alphabet book. I always looked forward to it on a Monday!! :)

I know what it's like, my grandchildren are the same. School is back and all of a sudden, it's a mad dash to get ready.
I'm glad you were here to read the last letter, too, Chloe, and I'm so pleased you enjoyed it. I love the 'horses in pajamas' (we spell that, pyjamas) I must remember that one, I'm sure that will go down well with youngsters. :)) Thank you so much for this lovely review. Keep safe, my friend. Warm hugs. Sandra xx

Hi Sandra, you just gotta love Grahams picture...look at that stance...that girl is saying...I'm all that...and more...bring on the boys...wasn't sure at first...but that's a girl...check out those legs...just the slight bend of the back leg...the turn of the hip...the front legs (like arms out)...that's a girl...I hope your using his pictures in your book...Eric would love that...

another awesome chapter my amazing friend...and I do love Zebra's...but they better watch the breeding of different animals...what you see cute on the outside...might not be on the inside...leave the creating to God...

they are beautiful...almost mystical...how prefect their marking are...they don't look like they should be ridden...

I bet you learned so much from writing this book beautiful girl...I know I did...and I know Eric is going to love it...and so will Noah if I ever see him again...Kristy is still worried about the virus...but Abby isn't real happy with all this...she's tired of being inside...Kristy lets them go pick things up...but they can't get out of the car...and Nidal (husband) is a Math teacher in Jr.high...I feel so sorry for him...she has to be driving him crazy...but one day at a time...

I love your poem you...and love Grahams picture...I'm glad you changed to using his on the top page...soooooooo very well described...all the little Zebra's...I love your book...

very well done you...CONGRATULATION on a true winner in a young boys heart...grandma and grandpa...sending you love in bunches...so now where do you go from here ???...Linda xxoo

so how is Ian ???...what are the test saying???...God Bless...I hope he is home...or will be soon...sigh...xxoo

Hello, Linda, Graham laughed his socks off when I read out what you'd said about his zebra, and he had another look and said, 'She's right! How did I manage that?' LOL!!! You have always made him laugh with your impression of his drawings, I think he'll start taking it up full time! LOL.

It's the wild zebras that are taking a fancy to horses and donkeys, the trouble is, those of mixed parentage are born infertile, so no more little pretty patterned ones after that. That spotted one was something different, no one knows how he was covered in spots, unless a leopard took a fancy to a female zebra! LOL! That would make a change from it killing and eating them!

I can understand Kristy's frustration, and fear. I'm sure she would much prefer things to get back to normal and the virus out the way. Mothers will always worry about their children, that's our job, but at the moment it's way out of control. The children miss their friends, and their lessons. It looks like we are heading for more lock downs here in the UK, the numbers are creeping up again. He's talking six months now. Which will mean so family Christmas, and that will be so hard. I feel so sorry for the many grandparents who are on their own and can't have anyone come to visit. Depression and illness is going to sky-rocket.

Thank you, sweet lady, for the six stars, the fabulous review, and for making my husband a happy bunny!!! LOL.

I will be posting the prologue of my new novel on Sunday, I've already written 16 chapters, now to see if it was worth it. The story line is completely different to anything I've written before, so I want your honest opinion, my friend. Mildred is still buzzing around in my head, waiting to come out to play again, and Eric and Herbie have also been bugging me! LOL! Thank you again, my dear friend, love you loads, and sending lots of hugs as well. Take care, stay safe and just keep smiling. :)) Sandra xxxxxxx

Ian is still in hospital, they say there isn't much they can do for him, just keep him as comfortable as possible. He'll be okay but now needs a full time care nurse. They are trying to sort this out so that he can go home. I'll be glad when he is out of hospital, so I can go and see him. I do a #face chat# with him at least twice a day to keep his spirits up. I bring up all the silly things he did as a child, and how he ran mum and me ragged chasing after him. He is still holding on to his incredible sense of humour. Love that man to bits. I look at him now as we chat, he's only in his fifty's but looks so much older now, bless him. You'd never it breaks my heart, and I can't be there to give him a cuddle. xxxxxxxx

Hi Sandra, you don't know how sad it makes me to hear about Ian...but I still believe it is in Gods hands...they have to make sure when he comes home he will be ok...it is good that you face chat with him...keep his spirits up...tell him I said hi...and he is never out of my prayers...

I will look for your book on Sunday...but will not be on I think...my girlfriend is bringing her daughter home Friday and Saturday...I am going to go see them...she is in Texas...I will be there Sunday - Wednesday...so when I get home I will check into it...I'm so glad it made Graham laugh...and you...I love his pictures...

as for Kristy...I told Abby she will be 16 someday...and she laughed...
well!!! you and Graham have a wonderful evening...and know you are in my thoughts...and I love you both bunches...and you are always welcome my amazing friend....Linda xxoo

Congratulations, Sandra! I'm looking forward to your book. I'm sure my grand kids would enjoy reading it. And you provided us with so many great and fun facts about each of these animals!

One question about the picture with four zebra behinds/rumps:
You tell us about three of them, what is the fourth?

I was hoping no one would notice, lol. I found the names for three of them, but it didn't mention the forth. I thought the stripes looked similar to the first one, but doubt it is. I'm going to keep looking, if I can't find out, I'll crop it.

Thank you so much for reading this one, Helen, and your your lovely review. Yes, that's it! All done. Warm hugs, my friend. :)) Sandra x

So the picture of four rumps didn't tell you? Will you keep all those pictures in the book? I find that's the part that keeps me from publishing because I don't want to write every single website permission to include their picture...
reply by the author on 21-Sep-2020
I'm not sure about all the pictures, but I get mine from Pixabay.com and from the Public Domain, you can use all their pictures free of charge and commercially. Take a look, they cover just about every subject you want. ::

Thank you for telling me about Pixabay! I'll see if I could find suitable photos that way. 💕

I love the way this has ended. The information that you've shared about zebras has caused me to like them even more! They're absolutely beautiful and so fast and smart. I love the cross of the zebra and horse. It's absolutely beautiful and so unique. I've enjoyed this animal series and am sorry that it's over. Thanks for sharing this well written series. Great job and well done!

Aww, Thank you, Jeffrey, what a lovely review, I'm over the moon that you enjoyed reading about the zebras. I had quite a shock when I dived into the researching, what a lot of differences there are in the different sub species. I can't thank you enough for the lovely stars, my friend, I can just give you a virtual hug! :)) Sandra xx

Hello Sandra, It's done - you have my permission to take a break LOL! Very well done. I did guess the Z, unlike X. Your poem is great and some of the information given is quite funny. Kids will like it - I loved the Zonkey. And a spotted Zebra. You really have done a terrific job and given a lot of time and research into this work. Now you have to compile it into a book. Your grandson Eric is a lucky boy. Congratulations on a great achievement. Lots of love Dorothy xxx

Hello, Dorothy, yes, it's finally finished. I've learnt loads doing this, and enjoyed it too. I'm going to leave it fore a two or three weeks before I start readying it for publication, so my brain is refreshed, the researching was great but so hard at times.
I've started a novel, not sure where it's taking me at the moment, I've only written 24,000 words so it won't be long before I know. I'm going to start posting it next Sunday and see how it goes. It's a new idea, not like anything I've written before.

Thank you so much for the lovely six stars, Dorothy, and this fabulous review. I've appreciated your coming to read my letters. Your support has been gratefully received. My favourite was the little spotted zebra, he's protected, so shouldn't come to harm. Thanks again, my friend. Lots of love, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

I'm so glad I read this. What an amazing book you're putting together, such "dazzle" and "zeal". I loved everything about it, and can see that it would indeed appeal to everyone. From the darling poem, to addressing endangerment you covered it all. Loved the pictures too, especially the spotted zebra.

Thank you so much for your lovely review. I liked those words, too. The 'dazzle' of stripes, which they are. This was the last letter, now I have to get it ready to publish. I'm delighted you enjoyed reading this. Warm hugs, Sandra xx

Hello Sandra
The six is for the whole project as well as this great finishing touch. I have seen the Grevy's in East Africa, and the Plains Zebra (in abundance throughout the Southern parts) over the years - but I have only ever seen two mountain Zebra (in Namibia - what was formally South West Africa), and even then it was from a distance.
The only Zebra 'fact' I can offer is that they are normally first in after a fire - about a day or so after bush fires pass, small green shoots come through, but the Zebra's also enjoy the charcoal (it apparently helps their digestion).
(and that spotted Zebra in your picture is amazing - I never seen anything like that)
As I say, *what* a project...
I wish you well...and safe.
cheers
phill

What an amazing review, thank you so very much, Phill. You are so lucky to have seen all those zebras in the flesh, so to speak, that must have been a fabulous experience. It's sad that the Grevy's are one of the threatened spieces, we are losing too many of our wildlife. I am going to add that interesting fact, if you don't mind, I didn't come across it in my research and that would be something that would go down well. That spotted foal was gorgeous, I have to agree, when I saw it, that had to put in. There is a video of it with it's mother but some reason I couldn't get it on here. I have others but not that one. If you want to see it, just put in spotted zegra foal and it should come up. Thank you so much for the six stars, my friend. Your review made my day. :)) Sandra

This is very educational, Sandra. I had thoughts that a zebra was a zebra. Didn't know they came with different stripes. LOL Thank you so much for the education my friend. Eric will be so much smarter because of you. Great Job my friend. Nancy:)
