I learned so much about the Eagle, thanks to your extensive notes. I admit I have a problem whenever I think about the food chain - nature is so cruel. I'm not a vegetarian, but don't eat meat that often. Anyway, this is another terrific chapter. Hugs, Lou

Thank you, Lou. I'm learning masses, too. I know what you mean about 'the food chain' I don't like it when I watch nature programs on the television, and you have animals chasing the weaker ones. I'm always wanting the animal being chased, to get away. I know it's nature, and this is what life is about, but it's not nice to watch. Thank you for reading my letter E, my friend. Take care, and be safe. :)) Sandra xxx

Hi Sandra, this is a wonderful series of introducing the alphabet to Eric. And today it's letter E, the same one his name starts with. However. We learn about the eagle, and I have to say that I've learned a lot I didn't know. You are doing an amazing job wit this. Big hugs. Ulla xxx

Thank you so much, Ulla. I'm going to make it a large book, full of interesting info so youngsters will enjoy learning from it. Eric's school is already taking my Eric and Herbie books, so my next step is to see if he'll take this one as well. And then I want to get in touch with the education services to see it they will take it. No harm in asking, is there. :)) I'm glad you enjoyed it, thanks, my friend. :)) Sandra xxx

Absolutely not. Go for it!!! It's a great project. Ulla xxx

I like the way the first half of the poem is in trochaic metre and the second half in iambic. It reads fine though.
Those Grecian eagles are a bad lot though. You'd think that a bird adopted as America's national bird could at least invent a tin-opener.
Those Mexicans saw into the future. The US Trumpeagle eating up that poor Mexican Immigrantsnake!

I tried to make is all trochaic, but the words wouldn't fit as smoothly, so I compromised. I hate to force a rhyme, it never works. I was surprised about the turtle, poor things, what a horrid way to go. A tin-opener!!!!! LOL! You are so funny. I love Trumpeagle, too, lol!!! Thank you, Jim. Loved your review. :)) Sandra xxxx

Love your up take on the Eagles. They are very good hunters and the are very patient with their young taking turns to feed the and care for them.they are very crafty opening shells, on turtle and such. Great job !

I was surprised at how clever they are, my word, you wouldn't think a 'bird' would come up with the idea of taking a turtle up high and dropping it on the rocks to break open. Crafty? They are certainly that. Thank you so much for reading my letter E, and for your nice comments. Have a lovely rest of the week. :)) Sandra xxx

They share the building of the nest and when the female is sitting on the eggs, the male fetches her food. - Now, who does that remind you of? I'm sure Graham can tell you...
Another short poem followed by a plethora of really interesting information. I suppose we are equal to the eagle in the food chain statistics, although there are a few hungry, strange looking predators lurking around the area I'm living in at the moment, so who knows!

This was very enlightening. You gave us some facts that I didn't even know. Yes, the Eagle is America's symbol and it is protected. It is against the law to shoot an Eagle. A person can be fined a stiff fine and could get jail time. Well done Sandra. Nancy:)

You always manage to teach me something new in such an interesting way, get my curiosity going. I found it odd that the female is the larger of the sexes. I did a little research, see if I could find out the possible reason. it's thought they're bigger so they can defend their nest catch bigger prey. I also found out most female raptors are larger, hmm.

I love it that you do that, Misty, go and do a bit of research of what I've told you, and I can understand the reasoning for the female to be the larger of the species. They would have the harder job protecting her eggs from other animals. (and humans) Thank you so much for another lovely review, my friend. Have a lovely week! :)) Sandra xx

Magnificent eagles! Aren't they also called the Kings of Birds? Like the Lion is the King of Animals?
I like your lovely rhyme for the children and the particulars of the different kinds of eagles. The Aztek legend is beautiful and interesting.
