I've never seen snow that deep, but I have heard about it. Lightening is powerful and can lay a huge oak on its side, a most shocking event. You're done a masterful job with this poem.
Oh, almost forgot. Is this a typo in the third stanza, first line, "too"? Should it be "to"?

Wow. This poem certainly gets the message across. I really get the feel of relentless snow and danger from this poem. The lightning hitting the tree just gives it that extra kick.

Gideon, there is an old farmers saying that when there is lighting in the sky in December, hunker down snow is coming. Boy it really did! I never saw so much depth before or after this winter event, it was so memorable!

This is the first time I read a Cascade Poem, reading the prompt I realize this is not an easy task. I read from the point of view of an amateur reader and i could feel the urgency of your lines, the loss of trees, the anguish. Very good poem.
