You have done a great job with the letter and diaries. You express the pain of their separation so well. I love how you are including their faith and trust in God. Thank you so much for another superb chapter. I anxiously look forward to the next one.

This chapter is AWESOME, Cathy and Bill.
It continues the story well in great detail. I like that it focuses mainly on Cathy.

The events unfold in a logical way. The letters back and forth between Cathy and Bill carry the story along nicely. However, we can't forget about Grandpa and his letter to Bill--I know he calls him Billy. Grandpa is the glue that holds the family together. His wisdom is so important in understanding the family dynamics. Now with Cathy and the separation from Bill, that is even more important. I believe he loves Cathy like a daughter-in-law and her presence takes his mind off how much he misses and fears for Bill. While he has Cathy to help, he feels he's helping Bill, too. I believe Grandpa understands the idea of what may happen in war, but his strong faith keeps him going.

Cathy is vulnerable in many ways. We see her elation with being saved, her feelings afterwards, her love of life and for Bill, and the darker side when she lets herself be overcome with the present situation. I commend you for writing about Grandpa seeking help for her. There is so much stigma associated with being in a hospital such as you aptly described. But, as you wrote, all feel it will help, and she will be released in a few days. You did a great job highlighting that hospital during the time frame of this story. The "Hello Dolly" song inclusion is another marker to set the time, too. Readers will not wonder 'when is this story . . . '

Bill's letters to Cathy about the training shows his commitment to his country, his job, and his service. At the same time, they show how much Cathy means to him--especially in time of war (well, the Viet Nam 'thing' wasn't a declared war).

I like the scene about Grandpa and Bill when he remembered his first deer hunt, and the way it played out. To me, it shows respect for nature, his deep faith, Grandpa's love and understanding, and the bond between Bill and Grandpa.

Your author notes show meticulous research.

Thank you, Cathy and Bill for sharing another fabulous chapter in this fantastic novel. I look forward to the next.

Excellent!
Respectfully with Love and Admiration, Laura Jan

The letters and diary entries were superbly penned and evoked powerful and lingering emotions in the reader. You are writing the pain of their separation wonderfully and tempering it admirably with faith, trust, and hope. Well done and thank you very much for sharing it.

This is another very well written chapter full of great descriptive words and nice letters. My favorite part was when Billy couldn't shoot the baby deer. That is my hero. A man that won't kill an innocent animal! I enjoyed reading and reviewing this. Keep on writing you two! love and blessings, Teri

Well written. The plot thickens. I think you showed the symptoms of deep depression well. You also showed an excited soldier hoping to blow up bad guys, seemingly oblivious to the tortured person he says he loves. I did not read any prior pages and so I'm missing some facts. I don't know if Bill and Cathy are married. If they are, he could easily get a hardship leave through the Red Cross and go to her, unless, maybe, he's more interested in his explosive ordinance training. Well done, you keep the suspense flowing. Thank you.

    Hello Richard,
Welcome to FanStory! Cathy and I read your Profile "ABOUT," and saw that you posted "The Reunion" on May 16th and "Alone" on May 18th. Both are quite impressive. You said that you haven't read any prior pages of our work. We recommend you do so if you are to honor us by following along with our novel. First of all, it is a "Fiction Romance." Cathy and I are not married yet (in real life), however, I'm working a second job picking cotton to make money to buy a pair of shoes to get married in. Do you believe this? I didn't figure you would. Just remember...I write fiction. I didn't serve in Vietnam, however did "Operation Desert Storm," Iraq in 1990-1991. You might enjoy reading my Profile "ABOUT" as well. You spoke of my "Explosive Ordnance Disposal" training. Were you on active duty with the military? If so, Cathy and I "SALUTE," you! Our appreciation for the review, kind words and taking the time to read "Love Long Distance," Chapter 13. We look forward to seeing you in Chapter 14. Best wishes and God Bless.

Very interesting previous chapter summary. Awww, very romantic letters. My favourite line: Growing with one another, into the autumn of our lives, holding hands while walking, joined-at-the-hip, down the pathway to happiness is what I live for.

Poor Cathy, she misses Billy so terribly that she doesn't want to live without him. War puts people in cruel cages, there are two worlds apart, and only the letters keeps the sanity on both sides of the line. Thank you for sharing and good luck with the next chapter.

Poor thing is so lost without him. I do hope for her sake he gets to come home soon. It does sound like he's not getting any letters. The chapter is well-written, very sad, emotional. I didn't cry but it definitely pulled at my heartstrings, nicely done.
