Cathy, I must applaud you both for this very well written chapter. The imagery was so real I felt like though I was there. I felt tense travelling on that seemingly endless flight. I can imagine what Cathy's thoughts were, for that matter all of them. The only one who did not care was Cathy's Mom.

This is another very well-written, interesting write. When I read the first part I felt like I'd somehow become your character, feeling all of her emotions. Held my breath until I read he's alive. Then the part about Billy going to heaven, I went through all the emotions again. Only great writers can take their readers on emotional roller coasters that way.

This is another excellent chapter to this book. Beautifully written with terrific dialogue and inner thoughts. I love how you work poetry into this and the relationship between Cathy and her mother is disappointing. I anticipated something like this happening but not so soon. I do hope he improves and this incident does not effect their relationship.

This is another excellent chapter to this book. Beautifully written with terrific dialogue and inner thoughts. I love this story. I can't wait until everybody gets to the hospital. This story HAS to have a happy ending. It just does. I am really worried. It doesn't look too good right now. Great writing.

Hi Cathy, I felt what you felt the whole way through this chapter. How hard it must have been for you! I remember when my husband (fiancee at the time) was hit by a truck, taken to hospital, and I was notified a few hours later and the taxi ride there was excruciating, and that was just a 40 minute journey, not a flight! Anyway, well done. I enjoyed this very much. Best, Sam.

You and Bill did an AWESOME job with this chapter. I enjoyed reading it. The story flows along well.
I like the interchange between you and your mother, Cathy. Readers get to know both characters more in depth from their dialogue and actions. While Cathy is heartbroken about Bill, her mother seems to believe it is just another day, another story. The fact that Cathy stands up to her reveals how truly in love she is and how uncaring her mother seems to be. Then, her mother not saying goodbye is terrible. What a contrast with that and the way Bill's Grandpa and Grandma welcomed her and were concerned not only for her well-being but, of course, Bill's.
Cathy's poem is poignant and reveals more of her undying love for Bill. It was written with great imagery, great rhymes, and an overall great message.
Bill's discussion with the doctor sounds just like one with his background would say. I believe he really was deeply concerned for himself and used this mannerism of his as a kind of 'cover.' Of course, he knew how seriously injured he was. But he, also, was thinking of the one he loved--that gave him strength in the face of his injury. I like how he was 'in touch' with God The bold print of his life's highlights was a way to focus on his thoughts, too.
The home-cooking by Grandma shows her concern, too. At times of a serious problem, I believe she involved herself in a project that would take her mind off of it a bit. She most likely remembered how much Bill enjoyed, and was thankful, for her cooking when they all lived in the log cabin. Those memories are precious to her (and to Bill). It shows more of their family connection. I believe the silent prayer each said before eating would be more intense than most recent times.
You and Bill did an EXCELLENT job. I can hardly wait for the next chapter.

A lot is happening in the plot with this episode. Of course, you have Billy seriously ill in hospital, but you're weaving a couple of sub-plots into the narrative: the interplay between Cathy and her mother; Billy's back story.
One thing that didn't work for me was the jovial exchange between Billy and his doctor. If this was mine, and I wanted to emphasize the severity of the injuries, I wouldn't be introducing humor into the scene. I never do like it when comedy is mixed with other genres (e.g. Comedy/Thriller) but it seems to be popular, so maybe I'm not a typical reader :(
Apart from that, the narrative flows well and makes an interesting read :)
I'm waiting to see where the plot goes :)
