It's been a rough week that has, once again, started debates about what the way to handle this is. There certainly isn't any book out there that will tell us the right way to go with it. All we know for sure is that innocence was definitely lost.

This is a good entry for the 3 line poetry contest. Your words are so true, especially in light of the recent tragic school shooting in Florida. What has or world come to? It is sad that we have so many troubled youth. Youth so troubled that they want to murder innocent people, and yet they slip through the cracks until they carry out these horrible acts. Just so sad.

How very powerful and ptofound As well as timely. It's perfectly sad but true.
And I think what makes it even more moving is knowing that it comes from one so completely invested in teaching. Having spent so much of your work life in schools.

My heart just breaks for the families whose lives have been destroyed... I remember when we had our first lockdown drills at the high school where - at the time - I was teaching 9th grade students. Students were petrified. And I recall saying to my particular group that an intruder would have to come through me before anyone of my them would be harmed. I also remember how the males in my classroom made sure - without my direction - that they were huddled in front of the females. That image has always stayed with me. And my promise...What if I couldn't have kept my promise?
It's been a very long day...

I struggled in school. I was a daydreamer. Looking out the windows wishing I was someplace else. But I?ve always held teachers in high regard and know first hand they change lives. I?m honored to know you. And I am without a doubt you have changed more than you know.

I absolutely agree with the mixed reality idea.... the rest, of course, is indisputable. I'm struggling, have actually fought it out with one person about how to correct this slaughterhouse of a nation we live in... nothing is going to end well.

Mixed reality sums it up rather nicely. There are people on both sides of this debate who need a reality check! The gun laws, as they stand, are incomprehensible to outsiders, but equally, so is the huge political influence of the gun lobby.
