I enjoyed reading your 5-7-5 haiku (my favourite syllable count). All your syllables were correct. (What...no horror scary music to make me jump)
All the best

Very clever Dean, great wit and genius within this 5-7-5, I knew you would find away to put scream into something you write.
Shakespeare would be laughing at this himself.

If he's not already turning over in his grave, poor chap.
Thanks for reading, Mitchell.
Have a Happy 4th of July, buddy.

Never read any Shakespeare longer than a sonnet except--at the point of a report card--Julius Caesar and Macbeth. I think you make Romeo and Juliet sound more interesting than it was. So Romeo was a pedophile... Excellent Haiku, Dean, but you know what my opinion is worth...

Well, your opinion is worth quite a bit to me, Elijay, and I thank you for taking the time to share it with me.
Have a Happy Independence Day, my friend.

Too, too clever! Shakespeare is probably turning over in his grave! Your ability to reconceptualize such a classic story, and morph it not only into a haiku, but a "scary " haiku is amazing! Thanks to you and your muse! Caroline

Very cute Dean. I love this. Very smart. How do you make a Haiku look so great. Great artwork. I will have to check out more of your latest. I would recommend this. Theresa.

I really liked the play on words of shakespeare's play a midsummer's night's dream great accompanying picture as usual Dean, well done. I really finding reviewing haiku and 5-7-5 poetry hard. I said that to gypsy once and she was quite offended.
then she gave an explanation on the points of review. as if I didn't know how to review a poem. Its just the shortness of both of these forms of poetry doesn't give you a great scope for a long interpretation or critique. oh well each to their own its just my opinion Thousands would disagree.
respectfully dip
Nonetheless I enjoyed the pun in your write

I didn't understand haiku at first myself, Dip. In fact, I avoided reading it because I felt if the review had to be longer than the poem I was reviewing, it really wasn't worth my time.
But the more I researched Japanese short forms, and after taking a couple of Haiku Poetry classes here at FanStory, I learned a much greater appreciation of the form and its history.
Thanks for taking the time to read mine, mate.
As always, it's appreciated.
~Deano :)

This is a fun one, Dean. I like the reference to a comedy "Midsummer's Night Dream" in this poem about the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. Was there screaming?

A poignant write about a tragic tale filled with speculation and sadness, 'Midsumer Night's scream', very appropriate! Maybe it was the end of spring and the beginning of summer? He he he, love Dolly x

Well, in the play, Romeo & Juliet, is set in mid-July. Juliet's 14th birthday was coming up in two weeks on Lammas Eve, and Lammas Day is August 1. So...it actually was midsummer.
Thanks for reading, Dolly. :)

Hahahaha! You have a zinger for an aha line :) That's my favorite part when I read haiku. I'm not up on all the rules, but I know a few. The more haiku I read, I learn a little more. Lines one and two set the scene, then your aha line clinched it. I guess Midsummer describes the season thing? No matter, I loved this. You nailed it straight into the coffin.

Yep, you got it, Joy. Midsummer is the kigo (or seasonal reference) and I stated as much in my author's notes, lol.
I'm really glad you liked this and I appreciate the six stars.
