A thought provoking Romance poem. I guess we never do know how long it will last. Lovely picture to compliment your work.

Well done and good luck in the contest.

What a unique idea. . .I wonder if he tested a bunch of flowers
to see which ones had 5 day scents! Sending a signal to his
lady friends, just exactly what they could expect?

Very unique & thought provoking!

(even on just the. . ."see that happens when you try to corral them" level ;-)

I love your comments, Leineco! I'd bet on the scent-testing, myself.... Thanks again.

"How Long Lingering" is an extremely well written piece. Short, succinct and very much to the point. It was a pleasure to both read and review this talented poet's work.

This romantic 5-7-5, How Long Lingering, has the proper syllable count and seems to create a parallel between the guy and the flower. Nice.

Hi Writer of fate,
I guess five days is five days?
And if the sweet scent lingered that long, well?

Something so simply beautiful about these words... to some the thought may be a disappointment, me, I lingered in the five days of sweet scent... and enjoyed the thought of each and every day.

All the very best wishes in this contest... beautiful presentation and as the scent suggested... it did linger past its due date.

With our thoughts we create,
the beauty of time.
James. vx's.

You should have replaced it with a silk flower. He would never have known the difference and it would have lasted forever, or at least long enough for you to be tired of him.

Aw, some things just aren't to be. The flower was a lovely gesture though, he wilted too soon, a sad, but beautiful entry for this 5-7-5 contest, blessings...

This is a beautiful but sad poem about a romance that lasted no longer than the flower he gave her. Your words are well-chosen to convey this person's sweet days which faded away. Thank you for sharing. I wish you success in the contest.

Yes, some romances aren't given the time they deserve. Thanks so much, Blessings.

Some lovers are like cut flowers - beautiful for a while but no roots! An interesting thought! Perhaps true love involves sharing a whole garden rather than just culling its best parts.
