A common behavior in dementia, but so frustrating to those around, especially family. Manners just go by the wayside with ability to make good decisions soon following. The spacial perception as with parking is often an early sign as well. You have your hands full, my friend~Debbie

I didn't link this or the space problem to dementia until much later. Giving it a name didn't make it any better. Sigh...

Hi, Spitfire
= Wow, it is so hard to understand, let alone accept something is wrong with our loved one.
= Personality changes can be so difficult, especially if not diagnosed early enough.
= You wrote this very well. I felt as if I were right there. Good work.

Thanks, Jax. The first think I do when buying prescriptions is to look for the bad effects.

Thanks so much for the compliment, Candy. Healing energy I understand. It works!

I had a couple for counseling. They had been married for 47
years and now he was abusive. I asked them to go get a physical.
That's when they heard the word, Alzheimers. Once they knew
the healing of their marriage could begin.
Great story. I look forward to more. -Bill

We're headed for the doctor in the next chapter and get the diagnosis. I heard the word with dread for my future, not his. He'd be too out of it.

This is a great telling of the story and I enjoyed the reading of it.
My husband was always a very pleasant man in public and remained so for the 3 1/2 years he lived before he died. But, he would do weird. He would wear his swim trunks out of the house and i would find him on the patio where people could have seen him. I did have some problem with that behavior. Blessings, Patricia

At least, he wasn't naked. := )
-
I should have added he would pull his trunks down and rub his private parts.

Oh dear! That is a problem and sounds as if he had dementia or another form of Alzheimer's.

Your memoirs are compelling, Shari. Funny, touching, Franks comments were troubling, disturbing, but your reactions to many incidents revolving him were often funny/sad.
" He said said it would take a long time since I'm a diabetic." [As with cooks and broth, too many saids will spoil the sentence.]
"I know we should have consulted somehow else," I scolded hubby. [ ... consulted SOMEONE else.]
A corpse! Put a stranger's DNA into my husband's body? What if the person had been a serial killer? Would hubby then kick me to death? [You are funny ... I think.]
really, I wouldn't embarass my husband that way. [...I wouldn't EMBARRASS ...]
"People need tp be told how stupid they are." [... need TO be told.]

I post this late knowing you're three hours ahead in time and can find my typos before the rest of the public. Funny that spell check didn't pick up on "embarrass."
I can add levity to what these incidents now, but not at the time.
Thanks ever so much, my friend.

You are most welcome, Shari.
