Well, he has ape arms and a buffalo head and acts like an ass. That is quite a critter there you are getting for a son-in-law. Your story continues to enthrall as you cautiously feel your way toward this wedding. I look forward to every installment.
Technique-wise, I like your short paragraphs. They move us quickly from thought to thought and from setting to setting, giving your narrative the effect of a well-made movie.
