Excellent chapter. The dawn of the second day after Jed's death. ( It's a good day as any) to be a prisoner, scheduled to be delivered to Ginot Rhuether at his palace of Qarnoth.
Suggestion: You had ( It's as good a day as any )

It looks like Doctrex is taking full advantage of his being a prisoner of war. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very good read.

Immature? Really. LOL, thanks for reading, Geoff.
-
or rather than immature maybe very crafty was more accurate?
-
Crafty! Yes! He is that. He wants to keep Zarbs off balance. One needs to remember how evil and hateful Zarbs was in the beginning.
-
Yeah good point had forgotten! Doctrex doing a good job of asserting his position in spite of being in captivity.

I love the by play and the upper hand Doctrex is managing to wield over Zarb, the poor Colonel is under the hypothetical thumb of Doctrex, what Glnot Reuther said to Zarb is anybody's guess! Well done, Jay, I'm wondering what story I am reading of yours next! Well done, my friend, good write, blessings,
Roy.

Thanks, Roy. I appreciate your thoughts on this. I was worried I might have gone over the line and made him cruel. Blessings!

Most welcome.

Clearly he was enjoying the reversal of fortune and illusion of power. I thought he should still be cautious, accidents happen.
One does not become so interwoven with the process of inhumanity without it sullying him beneath the surface and, over time, worming to the core.
- great line and very true.
A perfect chapter.

THANK YOU, LANCE! What a way to wake up, Sunday morning (after an hour's less sleep) by getting a Six Star Rating. I'm so happy this chapter is resonating with you.

I really appreciate the cunning humor of this. Well paced and narrated. As a new reader to this, I appreciated the internal monologue back story. Part way through I wondered if the plot should have started earlier to pick up some of the back story, but on final reflection I think you did a great job of summarizing the basic bits and spotlighting the dramatic moment. Loved the writing box.

Thank you for the lovely six star rating, Debbie. I'm glad you were able to get the gist of the action even though you got into it late. I hope the future chapters resonate with you. Now I can go to bed with a smile on my face.

Hi Jay. So we are into a new phase and it seems to me that Doctrex has a few ideas up his sleeve that he may not be sharing at this point. I am slightly suspicious of the burial process and wonder if there is not more to it. oh, well, will just have to wait and see. Loved this, alf

Great fantasy read. Sharp prose, dialogue, and descriptions pulled me into the story. The world you created is fantastic and surreal. Character populate it. Enjoyed detail of bathing and perfuming the dead. Thank you for sharing.

Hi, Jay,
Volunteering for suicide. Oh sure, let me sign up---and where do I sign on the dotted line, releasing all liability?? Eeegads but that's rough stuff.
Good chapter.
Cheers & Blessings

Thanks, Jax. Zarbs is running scared. Doctrex is playing him like a Hammond organ.
