I could hear Armstrong singing the song you reference and wonder, too, if those words are not much more accurate today than his words were. This was beautifully done. Great job.

All the very best in the contest. I've read a couple of entries but I liked yours the best.
I wish I could imagine a good ending to this but I can't. You gave it a nice sendoff!

I wonder about that as well. That song was my favorite song. It is up there with 'I believe'. I think you are right though, I had faith, but now I am not to sure that I believe in man or in god. Good luck in the contest and thank you for sharing.

This is quite a unique poem. I like the way you interjected lines from songs to make your point. It certainly is easy for us to get depressed with all the horror in the world, but at least there are positive things we can focus on. If I were writing a letter to God, I think it would be similar to this, but in a different style. Well done. Hugs, Lou

Well done. Where is YOUR wonderful world? It's a question man has been asking for eons. Even His faithful prophets asked that question. (see Habakkuk chapter 1) Is the end of the world nigh? If you mean the end of the earth. No.(Ecclesiastes 1:4) A generation is going, and a generation is coming, But the earth remains forever. But He does intend to do something about restoring the wonderful world he created and that according to prophecy is nigh!

Dear author,
Exceptional letter, one that I think we all could sign our names to. Interestingly, the times that we are living in are termed "the last days" in the Bible and it says critical times hard to deal with would be here. Take heart and have courage, author, the Bible also says those days will be cut short. My best to you with this contest entry. I think we have a winner. ;). Chrisfiore

This is an impassioned plea to God for help in a diminishing world of faith. Your analysis of Satchmo's 'Its a Wonderful World' with comparative notes, is a very clever and poignant device for highlighting your point. Well conceived and well delivered. Best of luck in the vote.

interesting incorporation of those lyrics
is the condition of today's world a punishment from God for man's actions? a thought-provoking question though one I could never answer yes to because that, to me, is not the nature of a benign and loving God

I guess it comes down to how God is perceived. Some grow out with fire and blood preachers, all brimstone and ashes. Others a loving and compassionate God. Many I know belief that we have been forsaken for our own actions. The idea that God is love but let's man suffer. There are a lot of contradictions when it comes to religion and God himself. It all depends on your viewpoint. We don't even all have the same Bible!
Many thanks for the review. It is very much appreciated

A excellent use and adaptation of a well-known song. You've avoided hokey, which is hard to do with this kind of construction. Very well done. :) Nancy

To the author of "How much worse does it need to get? "Is It The End?" You have written the letter almost like a song. I'm not sure about it. God hears prayers when you are just thinking about them. He probably hears songs that are written for him. Regardless, the lyrics are written well too. Good luck in the contest. Smiles. Carole

That's if he hears them at all. Part of what the letter is about. It is not a song but these are questions prevalent in today's society and cause many to waver from God or reject religion entirely.
Many thanks for the review
