Writing a poem on self actuating subjects like natural beauty and heart wrenching tragedies seems to be much easier act but taking a simple event of routines of one's life and interweaving it with the hidden feelings and emotions to make a poem out of it is a difficult job. This poem I feel falls into that class. I liked the subtlety of feelings in this poem very much because I could imagine my own reaction to such an unexpected arrival at my door.
The poem seemingly presenting an ordinary event actually tells lot more about the isolated world of many and it is artistically revealed by the lines :
"she loved the ribeye steak
(we fortunately had a spare one in the freezer)
Our mood was so much better after this. "
There is no mushiness of sympathy seeking and yet it depicts the joy of the unexpected association of one's dear sibling.

Beautifully told. It was wonderful that your sister came to visit. Such things can improve a person's mood considerably. Funny about your sister being in motor gear and having a hard time getting it off. If you're up for ribeye steak, you're surely doing better. Nice storytelling tone in this. judi
