In this biographical essay you have shared experience knowing what is there in Card, in order to chase the elusive dream, your friend and you visited a lady who read cards, though last two prediction about you came true, but you never try to learn your future again; well said, well done; post more. Love this story...your life is ups and downs like mine. I am also one that does not believe in palm reading or fortune telling. It would be scary if everything that a person is told would come true. Would we get any sleep?

That Rosemary, I don't believe in fortune tellers either. I've only let them read cards twice. Both times, two different women wee more accurate that was comfortable. Again from the older book. Not the one you originality read so many chapter in. Some of the stories are about the some thing but the earlier book had chapter meant to stand along and more of an attempt at humor.

Hi, Beth. Very interesting indeed. The way you write immediately captivates your reader to keep going. I wanted to see if you did min fact put any stock in what the fortune teller said and what turned out to be true. You told this chapter very well indeed, Beth.

Thank you so much for reviewing this Bob. I didn't want to believe what she told me but in the end all of it came true. I don't know how to explain it but I wouldn't do it again. I don't want to know.

Well it did sound like that fortune teller had some things right. I'm with you on preferring to have the surprises in store. I think if I had known my future years ago I may have opted out. :) Well-written as usual, and the story has a nice flow. :) Sandra

As believers if God wanted us to know the future He would tell us. Do you know that song "I know who holds the future and I know He holds my hand with God things don't just happen everything by Him is planned etc.
-
Yes, it is one of my favorite songs. I don't know who holds tomorrow but I know who holds my hand.

An interesting story, about a fortune teller, who uses plain cards. I believe there are some people who are naturally psychic, and it is something we all can develop with practice. Whether they use cards, a crystal ball, or some other device they can pick op on body language etc. I am a skeptic even though I do believe that an astrological birth map has valuable information, it is not regarded as fortune telling.
I enjoy the story, about the friendships you had with the other women you worked with. When women get along well together there is nothing better. Well done. Mary

Thank you so much, Mary, for the review and nice comments. It seems this lady had some sort of gift because every one of her prediction came true in the end although not in this story.

This was a great story of something that actually happened. Your descriptions of all of the people was so good. I could see them. Carolyn was so different from Maggie. And the fortune teller was just anybody's grandma.
Now, I'm curious as to how Maggie's and Carolyn's fortunes turned out. LOL

Thank you so much for the review and comments. I'd also like to know what happened with them. I do know two of them came true for both. Like me there jobs changed and both of them moved away. If you keep reading you'll learn the rest of my fortune came true as well.

They say the true fortune tellers don't set up a fancy shop. They're just ordinary folks with a talent. Also, the use of a regular deck of cards is a sign of the real ones. Again nothing fancy.

So good, intriguing and thought-provoking. I think you did extremely well with the dialogue and vernacular, which is realistic and reads with authenticity. Your last line lingers in my mind as I, too, opt for the surprises of life. Excellent "thinker" story with the credibility of being true.
