Those children are just darlings. I would have squeezed them, given the chance.

Carol seemed a little extreme in her moods and emotions. That seems not to have been any consequence to her intelligence.

I can appreciate the quietness of Christi, while I can just visualize Don's fidgeting.

Sounds like he may have had a bit of Attention Deficit Hyperactive syndrome (A D H D). That runs in the males of our family. As you describe your Don, he resembles this Don: impatient, hasty, always active, and making the mistakes of haste.

You're so right in your analysis of child behavior and your grasp of psychology.

Thank you Don. I appreciate the reveiw and the nice comments. Yes, I pretty sure Don had ADHD. He is a chiropractor today but even now when we talk, he's usually fiddling with something in his hand. Eventually he learned to make things instead of destroy them.

It has been said that two of the most important things that we do in our life do not come with instructions: 1. How to raise a child, and 2. How to choose a mate. :)

I remember having to keep a set of tools handy for my children's doors as well, but they'd lock it by accident. Ha!

Thanks Edward. I appreciate the review and comments. You are right. Neither of those things come with instructions. Still I'm glad I didn't live where the parents get to choose your mate. I'd rather make my own mistakes. LOL Not complaining. I did O.K.

I loved reading this story about your children's early years, Beth. I had a sister like Carol and have to say she never got over being a bit of a brat LOL. Your stories of her escapades really tickled me, though I'm sure it wasn't funny at the time for all of you. I'd like to read more if you've a mind to post.

Warmest regards, Bev

Thank you so much for the review and comments Bev. I'll probably be posting one later on today. This one will be revived from one several years ago, but will fit into the book, "Chasing the Elusive Dream", which is about my children earlier years.

Yes child rearing really is not easy, you have to deal with individuals with unique personalities and treat them separately with specific approaches for their specific needs. Parents are the unsung heroes when it comes to converting and transforming children into responsible adults. I like this one. God bless.

I love the details describing each child and the illustrative examples of their personalities, especially those for your brilliant and headstrong Carol. LOL
I also enjoyed the taste-tested foreign objects with Don. :-)

Beth, I never had children of my own, but I had brothers and a sister, all younger than me. Later, I would become a teacher, and then a retired teacher. So I've been with children for most of my life. Can you imagine what it is like to have thirty some of them in one room? All wanting attention and having their own unique personalities? Of course, you couldn't send yours home at the end of the day. Still I understand what it is like. This is well written, and it made me smile. It's good when they are on their own, and it's good to be retired. Right? (I'm smiling)

Thank you April, I really appreciate the review and I'm so glad you are continuing to read my posts. I did practice teaching and seriously thought about being a teacher, but I had trouble handling all those differing personality types. I admire teacher greatly. They have to have the patience of saints.

Funny how we expect kids to pop out as little clones. Funnier still, that they can be so very different considering their genetic makeup. Environment has something to do with it, too. My brother (Don, btw) is only 8 years older than I, but we're completely different. He was influenced by the 50s, I by the 60s.
Anyway, Beth, I like your revelations about your early family life. Keep them coming.

Peace, Lee

Thank you Lee. I guess since I was an only child, I didn't know what to expect from my offspring. The bit about the apple not falling far from the tree isn't necessarily the case. I don't even think they have a lot in common with my husband and I. Thanks for pointing out the spags.

Lovely story about your children in their early years. Thanks for the sneak peek into those wonderful children. You should continue to chronicle as much as you can gather and remember of your family. They will cherish the memoirs in their later years and with their children.

Be sure to read and re-read your composition several times to be sure grammar is correct. I often get a second opinion on mine.

Thank you so much for the review and the nice comments. Yes, I am chronicling my memories. This is the 16th chapter and will be part of the book "Following the Elusive Dream. I post things on this site in order to get help from the readers as to composition problems. Ususlly if anyone gives less than a five star rating they will point out the flaws so that I can fix them.

Your grammar was flawless. I could relate to your memories so well. My children's personalities are so different, and our parenting is modified accordingly. T2
