Holy cow! Twenty-two credit hours at once? I couldn't see that with a job and kids, so I'd say you definitely had neither. Ha! I thought it was great that he suggested it, despite the lack of money.

Thank Edward. I doubt if a advisor would let a student take that many hours today. Some were art classes, but I did get in over my head with that college algerbra. I didn't have a job or children but I was married. Maybe all those hours are why i made so many dumb mistakes at home.

This is a terrific slice of real life that a lot of young marrieds need to read. My kids, bless their pee-pickin' hearts, are starting off lives with thousands of dollars to work with. They still seem uncertain of how to exist in a world where problems may occur. Really like this story.

Thank you so much Bill, I really appreciate the review and comments. My kids started off with thousands of dollars in debt thanks to student loans and easy credit. A hundred dollars seemed like a fortune in those days. Things didn't cost nearly as much back then as now. Each generation has its own problems do deal with. I'm so glad you like the story.

Good morning, Beth:

Ah, the trials and tribulations of a newly wed couple. Your ability to present your early years and the pressures you were under was well done. You take the reader back to a simplier time and remind those having to overcome life's obstacles.

Well done.

Take care,

Ray

Wow! Ray, I really appreciate you and your six star reviews. Thanks so much for reading and commenting on my crazy past. I guess there are obstacles at any age. My kids have had worse ones than mine but different in nature. At least we managed to stay married and stay in love.

Some good stories here reminding me of our poverty days although they are mild compared to yours. Love the apple pie story. (What a scatterbrain-you LOL) One dollar minimum wage. I seem to remember that too. Great roller coaster ride--every man for himself-- at least that one time. Pawning wristwatches to go to the movies. These are the details that make your post interesting.

Thank you for the review and comments. I had a lot to learn about being a homemaker, but I was taking an overload of college courses and managing to do pretty well with the grades. I wasn't a total idiot. I'm focusing mostly on the stupid stuff that we could laugh about later. I appreciate you hanging in there and reading all this.

you do a great job of chronicling the many aspects of being young newlyweds, from coping with household chores to trying to live on a tight budget :-) Brooke

Brooke, Thank you for the review and nice comments. I really appreciate you spotting these spags for me. I thought I'd edited better than that.

I think all teenagers contemplating marriage should read this. It takes a lot of work in the early years. You are doing a good job with this.

Thank you so much Barbara. I think teenagers today have even more problems maybe. With all the credit cards available their debts are much greater than our were. They should know that making a marriage work is not as easy as it might seem.

A good read as they say. No SPAG to speak of, sentences flow with only with a few subject intro. Couples today are no different...at least I wasn't. Life has its rewards and challenges...the only difference...credit cards and too many choices. Excellent.

Regards:

Thank you Stephen, I appreciate the review and nice comments. I think couples today are faced with different kinds of problems and maybe some even more serious than ours. The credit cards can be a real stumbling block. My son has debt that I cam barely imagine dealing with.

This is a charming piece with some nice touches of humor. I found only a few mistakes--expense (you used a 'c' instead of an 's'), escape (you used an 'x' instead of an 's'), and two-day (which requires a hyphen). I look forward to more of your stores.

Thank you so much for the review and nice comments. I appreciate you taking the time to point out my spags. I don't understand why the spell checker didn't catch them. I've fixed them and I hope you might consider changing your rating.

The experiences you wrote about makes me appreciate how hard things were then. This is a good story about the struggles and challenges that your family faced. The incident on the roller coaster was funny. Your story reads well. Encouraging story to me.

Thank you so much for the review and nice comments. Things seem just as hard today for my children but the challenges are different. I'm glad you found this encouraging. It's been quite a trip but we've had fun along the way.

This was incredibly well written in addition to some awesome humor sprinkled throughout which made it a great read! The stuff about the pie was superb! Great characterizations, great pace, and you were able to gloss over what I'm sure could have been unnecessary details. Just excellent! Write more...hurry!
