This was a great poem. I have a wonderful German Shepherd that's smarter than my children. At first, I had a hard time with this. I wanted it to flow more. Then I realized you were on an 8 syllable count. Made perfect sense. Great job.

Nothing like a dog to express a true sense of love. You have done an excellent job of portraying that true bond between an owner and his person, er I mean an owner and his dog. Great poem and good luck with the contest.

The rhyming flows ever so smoothly and perfectly,as we come to learn about the happiness that your canine friend brings into your life;
Plentiful alliteration in"licks loving laid", "big,black beauty", "long lasting love"
Does your dog resemble this dog,justchillin? He looks in need of a rest, from all of the walking and water play!

'My Faithful Friend' is an extremely well-written piece. This talented poet's work was a pleasure to both read and review. It is not a mere coincidence that dog spelt backwward is God. Faithful, loyal and loving, dogs are gifts sent from Heaven.

This is a wonderful poem about your dog that makes the reader feel good. I have a mini dachshund and can relate to your words. He play ball constantly and is a faithful companion. Excellent verses and flow of lines.
