Another great poem. I guess it goes to show that you can't go wrong with kindness. :o)

Beauty is no quality in things themselves: it exists merely in the mind which contemplates them. -- David Hume (1757)

This is one of the poems that must conform to a style. As a ricktermeter it succeeds. However, it is bare and sermonistic.

Wow, you're all over the front page today!! This is well written and makes an excellent point in the process. If only we could live by the Golden Rule, how much happier this world would be.

Excellent rictameter, Sue.
One of the most important virtues, described perfectly. To give it we also recieve satisfaction ourselves, so it's gotta be GOOD. Nice read. Ray xx

Yes, and there is the true meaning of reciprocity. We can't be perfect, but we sure can try! Thanks, Ray, for your great review. Always, Sue

I love the idea of this poem. As a teacher, I am constantly trying to teach them to be kind to each other. I didn't know about this kind of poem. I am going to have my students create one their own. Great job!

Oh! What a fantastic idea to have your students write one! I love using it as a great tool to learn how to select my words very carefully for descriptives. Would be something I would have loved my teachers to challenge me with. Thank you so much for your very kind review. So glad you enjoyed it. With regards, Sue

Sue - Rictameter? How do you keep all these poem styles straight? I must say you do it well. As they say, those who have the gold make the rules. Is that the Golden Rule you're referring to? LOL. Nicely written. Some day I'll write a poem. Later, Charlie

Kindness does indeed spread good with humility. You have painted a very nice picture in this well presented Rictameter. Very enjoyable. Rose.

Your presentation in this one looks wall-hanging ready, and the piece reads like something one would post in a heavily trafficked room for constant reminder. Good one. :)

Ha! I love that idea! A heavily-trafficked room! The Golden Rule has been all but erased as a teaching tool for our children. Very sad. Thank you for your very kind review and comments. Sue

Given the constraints of this poem, this was very well written. I don't usually like shorter poems, haiku and the like. This one had a clear message, delivered perfectly. It is clear that each word was carefully selected. Well done.

Sam, I am so honored that you gave this poem your highest review. The rictameter is an excellent format to learn more about selecting each word to "count". Would love for you to write one. Maybe I'll start another rictameter contest. It was quite successful on the last one. If I do, would you join up? Thank you again for our wonderful review. I am so glad you enjoyed it! With regards, Sue

Sorry, I don't think I would be able to join. I don't typically write poems that are restricted by syllable count. I get frustrated and my vocabulary is just not big enough. Its one of those things like haiku where I can appreciate it for what it is, but can't duplicate. Good luck with it if you do start a contest. :)

Thanks so much for writing back. We all have our comfort zones, that's for sure. Very cool that even though you don't write these forms, you still appreciate them and read them.

    With regards,
    Sue

You just can't be to kind. It isn't always appriciated at the time but in the long run it always works in your favor. Great little poem.
