This says it so well and with such exacting
brevity. Fortunately I have not gone through
the pain of divorce but I have seen many friends
and family members suffer the almost detached
finality of partnership and you have said it
very, very succinctly my friend. easy

easy,
Even though it's been 8 years, writing this brought back the moment. Very difficult. "Detached finality" are the right words.
I am so honored by your exceptional review. To have one's work received as intended, is the most fulfilling thing. I thank you for your most esteemed review of my poem.
From the heart,
Sue

Nicely done. You picked a topic that is very familiar to lots of us, myself included. If only divorce was so "clean" and simplistic as the words created here. Excellent picture and color choices. Good luck!!

P.S. Everytime I see your picture, I am reminded of Elizabeth Hasselback from the View...anybody else ever tell you that? LOL

No, I've not been told I look like her, but WHAT a compliment! I'm blushing here!! Ha! - Yes, I wanted to show the contrast of those "clean" papers and the true feelings held by both people. It is just like that. Thank you for sharing your own experience with it. Thank you for your lovely review and kind words. Much appreciated...Sue

Sue - The divorce thing would certainly be a heartbreaker. I can't even imagine going through that. However, if the woman was a witch of a woman, I would be joyous at that moment. LOL. Thanks for you great poem. Charlie

Ha!!! A 'witch of a woman' - crack me up! Believe me, even when the other party is a pain in the ass, a witch, etc - it still is SUCH a heartache. Thanks for the review. As always, very much appreciated...Sue :-))

Divorce is heartbreaking. I know because I went through one some years ago. Leaves a hollow feeling in the heart. Even though I was the one who divorced my husband, it nevertheless was a terrible sad occassion. Excellent imagery in very few words. The tears at the end made this a quite effective piece. Best of luck in the contest. Blessings, Linda

Linda, yes....in most cases, it doesn't matter the cause or who filed, etc. It is a very sad and life-changing thing to go through. Thank you for sharing that you had to go through it, also. Thank you for your very kind review and words. Always appreciated, Sue

Divorce is never an easy choice, and this poem points out how, even if wanted, it is devastating.
Great adherence to rules, wonderful poem of love and loss.

This was a strong entry for the contest, Sue. Great choice of words and it reads as being a true account, personal. If so, I'm sorry it happened. Good luck in the contest, my friend.

This tells a story and is very good. I think you have captured a happening and penned it in a way that much more is said than is written. Well done.

Yes, yes, yes. You have captured perfectly the horrible feeling of failure that comes with divorce. I love the neatness of the short lines, like the neatness of the papers, punctuated by the image of sorrow, which is never neat.
Nice job!

Duane, spelling it out like that says volumes as to how tragic it can be for the children. Indeed, it is. Thank you for your review and very kind compliments. With regards, Sue
