A fun movie review of two fun and funny characters. I love both of these guys and "Grumpy Old Men" is a delightful movie. We haven't watched it in years but I remember it well.
I've never been a fan of ice fishing but then I don't live in Minnesota. lol
Blessings my friend

Well you sweetheart, you! How incredibly lovely of you to first of all give me such a great review and comments but also the gracious six stars too.
LOL, it really wasn't intended to be a review of the movie, but a poem about how much my husband loves acting like these guys and that is why the art that I did for the poem is actually what I designed and made a big poster of and had it laminated and now is on his fish house. He gets a lot of laughs around the lake with that.
But I know that it seems almost like a review as I also tell about the Wabasha days where the movies were filmed. And about the movie so you are not wrong. It really does appear to be partly that anyway. But thank you again, my lovely friend for such a wonderful review of this silly poem.
Lotsa love, Debi

LOL. The movie is a classic. Whilst we do not fish like that over here the same intensity and competition exists. Great rhyming in this poem and as usual you just nailed it. Take care and you and your family have a most wonderful Christmas.
Cheers

Hi Barry, and thanks so much for the awesome review and for the kind comments. I have no clue what made me do this one.
Please tell me you don't have any competitors over there that go to such extremes. Haha. I mean he goes to the lake everyday to see if the ice is safe enough yet. LOL, he is such a big kid that just can't wait. But then last year it was too warm so he is going thru withdrawal something fierce. Haha. Anyway, it was a fun one to do.
I appreciate you having a little laugh with me with this one. Thanks so much, my dear friend. Love, Debi

Always good to have a laugh, Debi. I might even try a bit of fishing over Christmas. Take care.

And boys will be boys with all their toys! And of course, fishing is one of them, which I enjoyed when I was younger, but ....BUT ... not in the cold out on the ice. And building a fire which might melt the ice. Girl, these grumpy old men can have their fun and I'll sit by my fire...inside. Thanks for sharing.
Smiles, Carol

Thanks, Carol for the kind comments, I am not sure if your four stars was a slip of the finger, but if not, could you tell me what it is I could have improved on. I don't mind constructive feedback at all, my dear friend.
Thanks sweetie. love, Debi

Oh gosh no! I instantly went and changed it...Thanks for letting me know. I'm getting where I can't see what I am doing half the time. But then I know you have enough problems as well. Sorry for my slip up!

Oh thank you, but I always want you to know I never mind feedback. I would rather hear it then pass over. Thanks so much, my dear friend. Love ya, Debi

This poem is also a movie review. I saw it once, but it's been years. Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau surely were unforgettable character actors. I really liked Walter Matthau in the 1994 movie "I.Q." as Albert Einstein.
Good lines:
There is a valid purpose and I'll make it very clear
The one that gets the biggest fish, won't have to buy the beer

Hi Crystie, I saw that too and it was so good. Who'd have thought, him as Einstein?? And thanks so much for the awesome review and for the kind comments. I have no clue what made me do this one.

That was one of my all-time favourite movies! (And I love to fish too -- haven't been able to since moving back to the city...*sigh*)
"But these grumpy old men are my hubby and his friend, Rick..." Hahahaha! "There is a valid purpose and I'll make it very clear...

Priceless!

Funny and enjoyable throughout. We need a little brightness in our lives
these days. I guess you could describe me as a grumpy old man when things don't suite me. My great grandchildren all call me lovable papa.

Hi Willie, I know you are no grumpy old man any more than my hubby but it is a fun reference.

Thanks for the movie review. I can't remember if I saw them or not. I certainly remember the Odd Couple but that was before they became Grumpy Old Men! I can't imagine your Glen being grumpy!

Haha, Helen, it is all in fun. Him and Rick have so much fun being goof balls that it does my heart do good to have him go again. He is so excited he has been coming home and doing what he always used to do. He walks in the door and yells, Wilma, I'm home. And I always say, that's nice, Fred.
I have no clue what started me in on this but maybe because last year he got cheated out of fishing because it was so warm out. That art that I did for the poem, was what I did to hang on his fish house. It is really a laminated huge poster. Even Roy loved the movies, which shocked me cause there are a few parts that I cringe on, but the rest is so endearing that you can't help but love it. Anyway, Glen's fish house only fits four people and is small like about 8 ft by 8 ft.
I told you about Jason's. It is 20,000 lbs and with the pickup that pulls it, it is 43,000 lbs. so they have to wait for the ice to be closer to 20 inches. That one sleeps ten, full bath, kitchen little living room and even a fireplace. They sit on leather recliners that each has a big screen tv to watch their bait and see when the fish comes in. There is a little round carpeted piece they pull out of the floor to drill a hole in the ice. It is awesome. I will send you a picture of it.
It also doubles as a camper in the summer and on one side says,
Making Marquette Memories.
Thanks for the sweet review, my dear Helen. Lotsa love, Debi

Man, you're describing a six star hotel room! My goodness, that's not a fish house! Lol. 😂

This is a really fun poem, and you also picked a fun movie. I always am amused by the ice houses on ice that breaks loose and heads out to sea. Hope that has never happened to your husband and his friend. Do they really catch many fish?

And what a cast these movies had. They were great fun to watch with laugh out loud antics.
Besides, Sophia Loren ups everything about these classics!
Great poem, filled with love and humor.
You "reeled" me in...

Yes most of it is good. And I have heard from others that the movie is pretty true to type. Guys and fishing. I like fishing on the lake. I went with my Pa and caught bass, I went with Uncle Ray and caught catfish and gar. I love catfish, And the gar goes into fish stew. Good poem. Karen
