having her first monthly period, and she was thrilled to piecers with the (pieces)
they would girls with decent handwriting to write them a permission note and sign their parent's name. (reads awkward)

This is another excellent chapter in your life, Beth which you wrote really well. It must've been difficult for you, at that age, not knowing what was going on when you were ten. An excellent, engaging piece. I really enjoyed reading it.
