Thank you for memorializing Jan and remembering all those who did so much for our country. It always brings tears to my eyes knowing I was honored at college while many of my generation gave the ultimate sacrifice to our country. This land does not deserve many of the ungrateful disobedient students we have today.

Oh yes, John, there isn't hardly a day that goes by that I don't miss her and think of her. And now with Memorial Day here I was thinking the same thing. Jan and I would talk for hours and she loved talking so much that I couldn't always answer the phone when she called. So now I have 13 voicemails from her that I listen to every once in a while and shed lots of tears. And I just don't have the heart to get rid of them.
I wish I had six stars to give you to honor her, but I know you will accept the virtual ones.
I have felt so guilty that I didn't call the authorities sooner when I suspected something was wrong. I knew it wasn't normal not to text everyday and talk a few times a week, but I just figured she just needed some space. Yet it wasn't like her.
Jan taught me so much when she was here. She is why I always offer help to the new people who come, so what she taught me was passed on.
She was a good friend to so many. I am a bit of a keeper, so I still have every text that she wrote me every day of our friendship. And my Jan folder holds so many memories of her.
Her love for the veterans was always special to me as my dad and grandpa also were from WWl and WWll. So I loved her for that.
Thanks for letting me get some of this out as I hope others will share with their Jan memories, but now it is time for me to quit as mine got a little long. Thank you again, John, for doing this. Love, Debi

I was at the VA this morning and seeing so many of us old guys who are still left on the planet made me think back aways but quickly erased the thoughts for they only brought a sadness. Thank you, John for honoring the fine lady.
