An excellent entry for the Free Verse Poetry Contest. There is some lovely descriptive imagery in this poem. Very reminiscent of the flight of birds. My favorite lines:

The time to depart has unwrapped itself.

Onion-skin thin leaves have blown away

like feathers or fine-lined intentions.

Very nice. Good luck in the contest

This poem, well-crafted and evocative, captures the graceful and determined journey of Canada Geese. I love the comparison of Winter to a "crooked coin of silver" and the imagery of "onion-skin thin leaves" blowing away like feathers beautifully captures the fleeting nature of time and the urgency of the geese's instincts. - Good luck. - Terry

This poem beautifully captures the anticipation and determination of Canada geese as they embark on their long flight to evade the harshness of winter. The imagery is vivid and evocative, painting a picture of the geese's journey with delicate and powerful strokes. Thank you for sharing.

I've always admired those migrating birds as they wend their way to where the warmth is mate and propagate their kind as God has planned, we tend to admire the things that are rare in humans, the nobility of God built in, but they do as
God ordained, a beautifully written poetic treatise Crystie, blessings Roy

This is a very lovely poem that you have written about the Canadian years and their migration back to the north from having spent the winter and the warmer climates. to be able to show a separation for the stanzas you might try using the symbol for a plus or minus the little sideways shape these. Put two or three in there and then that would specify that it's a new stanza. Patricia .

BeaUtifully stated and laid out like. Professional.

This line was da bomb!:
morning,

like lace on the skirt of autumn.

You made me want to be a goose... or get one. Whatever.

Well done. Deserved a sixer all day long!
