You make some very good points. All sound logic. What you identified here are typically called hypocrites. I've known some. At any rate, you wrote it in coupled rhyme in 18 lines of mixed meter. A very good strong warning about the lies the enemy. Well said.

Perfectly said! My son married a smart, kind, lovely black woman. They have three beautiful, smart, kind children... Each are their own precious shade of skin tone...
Do you think for one moment my love for my grandchildren is in any way based on the amount of melanin each has?
Not a chance.
We are ALL God's children!
"It's not what he looked like, but what he said and did..."
Amen to that!

In a family where one child has red hair and one one has blonde hair, or one has blue eyes and another has green eyes, will there be prejudice? I highly doubt it, so why is there hatred for skin tone?
-
I do not know. I do know that my darkest skin toned mixed race grandchild experiences much more prejudice!
-
As sad as things are, if you continue to show them love, God will take care of the rest.

A powerful, brilliant and thought provoking post. I agree with every word.
I watch as those who profess thier Christian faith openly and very loudly yet forgot His teaching is one of love for others, help and feed the poor and welcome the stranger.
Well written and stated.

Thank you. When I learned that a so called preacher participated in the murder of some kids who were trying to help black citizens vote in the infamous Mississippi murders years ago, I was sickened to learn of this man supposedly representing Jesus.
-
What gauls me are the politicians t HH at loudly profess their faith yet practice cruel and uncompromising positions
-
Fear not, the day is coming when all liars will be publicly exposed.
Comment from John Ciarmello
I agree, Nomi and the hypocrisy is why I don't attend church.
I'm a staunch believer in our Lord and try to walk as exact in his footsteps as humanly possible.
This piece should be an eye-opener to some. best, JohnC

nomi338: This is a very pious write...An excellent testament to the adamant direction of your poetics: Numerous alliterations and rhymes...
I will list a few of the ones from each genre which influenced my read...
Alliterations: A's, Are/a/and/accept...Adam/and, Argued/about; F's, Fall/from; G's, gaining/God's; L's, Looks/like; M's, message/miss; P's,
poses/problem.
Rhymes: Fallacy/supremacy/Christianity/fantasy/see; Descended/defended; grace/race; brother/another; features/preachers;
did/hid; wear/bear; waiver/favor.
These devices married with the outstanding picture and the afore-mentioned poetics, and poet's consistent verbiage/theme, and religious
fervor provides a memorable and dramatic bible lesson. I say, preach on.
I thoroughly enjoyed your poetic/uplifting sermon. Good luck in the contest. teafor2

Thank you for a review that is professorial, distinctive, penetrating and music, pure joyful music to this poets eye and sense of accomplishment. I find it nearly impossible to convey to you how pleased I am to have my efforts recognized so well and thoroughly cited.
-
you are welcome. However, your
'efforts' were straight forward, well
meaning and with no hidden agendas as far as I could tell.teafor2

Amen and Amen! Virtual six. Not only do I fully agree with your message but you crafted this poem beautifully with natural rhymes that make sense. I cannot understand how racist can believe they are followers of Christ.

I think that like the Jewish religious leaders of Jesus' time, they have managed to convince themselves that the scriptures are not as important as their own interpretation of the scriptures.

Oh, I love this poem for so many reasons. Jesus loves us ALL period. I don't understand hypocritical Christians who have no problem being racist bigots.
Well said, my friend.

The simple answer is they are Christians in name only.
Comment from CrystieCookie999
I liked reading this poem, especially the last four lines. It is a poem that points out that Christianity should not be based on superficial judgments. Rather, it ought to be based on following the example of Jesus Christ. Nice post.

Hi Nomi, your poem is beautifully penned with keen insight and wisdom.
Of special note:
It's not what he looked like, but what he said and did,
(And we should follow His ways.)
Also:
It is the undeserved burdens they are willing to bear,
(This is so true. Our path is before us, and we will go down it, and we
can either choose to go down that path gracefully or not--ungracefully.)
Well done; well said. A poem to ponder. Margaret ~ LateBloomer
