I loved this! You touched my heart with emotion and showed the transformation from tales of Santa to real life. I was impressed by how the transformation unfolded and how she reacted to finding a passion to help others. The true spirit of Christmas. You should feel very proud of her. Have a wonderful holiday with your family.

Hi Jessica,
This is a well rhymed and metered poem. It shows this girl sees the true meaning of Christmas. It also depicts the joy faith can bring.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Good luck with the contest.
Merry Christmas.

Children often come out with the perfect thoughtful solutions.
I think my daughter was probably 10 years old when she found out....and, wanted to do something about it...
We would go to a local 99 cent store and buy 20 gifts ($1.00 each but very nice,) and she would pick them all...and, then we would take them to a shelter for children...
It was the highlight of Christmas for many years...
Lovely Christmas Poem dear Jessica...
Merry Christmas,
Lisa

What a lovely poem for Christmas for your daughter.
Gorgeous tradition of mother's pride and love. Wonderful child to have such compassion. Grammar esthetics sentence structure or subject matter. I think it's a great submission. I wish you best of luck. Great new year have a awesome night!

What a beautiful story and so beautifully told! You've used perfect rhyme and metre (as you always do) to tell a gorgeous story about your daughter's blossoming social justice and how she is embodying the true meaning of Christmas by showing care and concern for others. No temper tantrums or selfish reactions to unwelcome news for her. No wonder you're a very proud Mum. :)

A beautiful story here, Jess, of your daughter's 'coming of age.' You've captured so well the joy that this new realisation has brought and, while it may have dispelled some of the magic of Christmas, that loss is compensated by learning the truth of the inequalities that exist and the part we all play in trying to do something about it, no matter how small. Nicely done and good luck! Debbie

This is a beautiful tribute to your daughter and she looks so much like you Jessica, you exposed her innocence here in your well rhymed and metered poem and our hearts go out to those children less fortunate at Christmas time, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

We raised our girls in the nurture of God's love, and the love of No only God but man is very much part of that, it creates an attitude of kindness, grace and love, not just for this time but for all times. But when one sees their offspring naturally grow in that, the joy becomes generational. You've experienced a wonderful growth in your daughter, and a wonderful poem in every way to express it, well dine, blessing Roy

That is so sweet, Jess. What a great kid you've got who can turn her disappointment into something constructive and fulfilling and joy-giving. That takes a maturity well beyond her years and a good set of values instilled in her by her parents. No wonder you are proud of her.
All the best to you and your family for a very Merry Christmas! - Jim

A very beautiful message about your very beautiful daughter.
I, too, was at her age when I suddenly realized that not every child was as fortunate as I was ...
I love how your daughter has channeled her energies and newly found knowledge to "DO something about it."
Good job, Mom...
Thank you for sharing!
Merry Christmas to you and yours!
